About Mehdi

Mehdi is author & founder of StrongLifts.com, a website with 300.000 monthly visitors. His StrongLifts 5×5 routine has helped people from all over the world and from all ages to build muscle & lose fat through strength training.

MehdiMehdi got into strength training in 1997 doing Push-ups at home. He joined a gym in 1999 and started lifting weights doing bodybuilding routines. In 2004, he built a home gym. To his own amazement, his physique became better than ever when he began to train for strength solely.

Mehdi has read hundreds of books about strength training, weight lifting & nutrition and has spent hours on Internet forums learning from the best. Where he lives, people know Mehdi trains since years. He gets questions about it all the time and has helped family, friends and co-workers building muscle, losing fat & lifting weights.

After 5 years working as helpdesk, Mehdi realized he could use his support & IT skills for better ends: documenting everything he learned during the past years online.

May 1st 2007 StrongLifts.com goes online. Within a few months it establishes itself as one of the most popular strength training sites with 800.000 monthly pageviews, 25.000 daily subscribers and readers from over 180 countries.


Training.
Mehdi likes partials, singles, chains, bands, odd lifts, sandbags, … His current best raw lifts: 165kg Deadlift, 130kg Squat, 100kg Bench & 65kg Press at 75kg BW. You can follow his training log in StrongLifts.com Forum.


Nutrition
. Mehdi prefers diets high in protein, fat, fruits & veggies and low in carbs like rice & grains. Except for fish oil & multivitamins, he doesn’t use any supplements, not even whey. His typical day looks like this:

  • Breakfast: eggs, spinach, tomato, peppers, orange, green tea
  • Post workout (lunch): chicken, quinoa, spinach, banana
  • Snack: ground round, spinach, olive oil, apple
  • Dinner: meckerel, bok choy, chicory, tomato, peppers, carrots, olive oil
  • Pre bed: cottage cheese, berries, flax seeds, fish oil

Mehdi weighs 75kg/165lbs year through with 10-12% body fat at 1m73/5′8″. He’s 27 year old and lives near Brussels in Belgium.
