Vagabonding.</strong> I&#8217;m leaving to Spain in a few days for 6 week <a href="http://stronglifts.com/forum/vagabonding-t14412.html">vagabonding</a> trip. I&#8217;ll be walking the Via De La Plata solo. 1000km walk from Sevilla to Gijon. Will take rest days in between to visit cities.</p>
<p>I won&#8217;t go online for 6 weeks but you&#8217;ll keep getting articles. I won&#8217;t be active on the forum but the moderators will keep things in check. <a href="http://stronglifts.com/fitness-coaching/">Fitness coaching</a> is closed and I won&#8217;t check any emails.</p>
<p>Walking with a 7kg backpack will be my only training. I&#8217;ll try to eat healthy, but predict weight loss from the long walks. I don&#8217;t care about strength/muscle loss or fat gains though since I know it will come back when I return.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t prepare physically. Only thing I did is research equipment, how to avoid blisters, learned Spanish, &#8230; I expect soreness and the hot weather might get hard, but I think Squats have built the necessary willpower.</p>
<p>Part of me doesn&#8217;t want to leave since I like my life here so much. But I know that if I don&#8217;t force myself to take a break from everything once in a while and keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I&#8217;ll never do anything.</p>

Fitness Coaching</strong><strong> Update.</strong> I&#8217;m <a href="http://stronglifts.com/fitness-coaching/">coaching</a> 20 people online right now. Here&#8217;s what Vlad (38, Denmark), who I&#8217;m currently working with, wrote:</p>
<blockquote><p>I was eating like a pig before, was gaining weight, squatted only 2x per week, deadlifting only 1x per week, and still I was very tired during the week. So I had my doubts when you suggested to squat 3x per week, deadlift 1.5x per week, and lose fat at the same time. I thought that this would make me even more tired.</p>
<p>But now I have lost 4 kg, my strength goes up (particularly in BP and OHP, where I had big problems before), and I am not tired during the week. So I am very glad about the training with you. I find it great.</p></blockquote>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Time flies. It&#8217;s been 10 months since the last article. It was time for an update.  Especially since today marks a special occasion: StrongLifts.com went online exactly 2 years ago, May 1st 2007.</p>
<p><strong><br />
The Past 2 Years. </strong>First of all: thank you for your support and encouragement during the past 2 years. It&#8217;s been an amazing journey. Although I knew from day 1 that this was going to be great, it surpassed my expectations.</p>
<p>A lot of you have told me that the advice on this site changed your life. I&#8217;ve said this before: this site changed my life probably even more than yours. So much it makes me wonder what it&#8217;s going to be like 5 years from now.</p>
<p>I sometimes get emails asking for tips for someone who wants to start a site. Here are my 3 best ones. You could apply them to any business.</p>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Help People.</strong> Be interested in people and they&#8217;ll tell you their problems. Focus on solving their problems and the money will follow. But money as priority is a bad motivator that will lead to bad decisions &amp; frustrations.</li>
<li> <strong>Get Smarter.</strong> The more you <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-squat-with-proper-technique-fix-common-problems/">Squat</a>, the better you become. But you can do it for 10 years and still learn new things. Same thing here. Keep a journal, keep doing what works, remove what holds you back, don&#8217;t fear failure, learn from your mistakes, read a lot, &#8230;</li>
<li><strong>Be Persistent. </strong>Self-discipline, sacrifice, persistence. Ignore what they say, they don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re talking about. You can do it if you believe you can. You&#8217;ll have to work hard, but it will get easier.</li>

The Way of The Future?</strong> I don&#8217;t like talking about what I&#8217;m going to do, I prefer to show it. So I&#8217;ll just say this. The foundation is there. It&#8217;s time to go level 2.</p>

<p>There are several ways. But to get there I need to improve my skills. So that&#8217;s what I&#8217;m working on. Won&#8217;t tell more, but it will be great. You&#8217;ll see.<strong></strong></p>

Fitness Coaching. </strong>I also plan to write posts with before/after pics &amp; stats of the people I&#8217;m <a href="http://stronglifts.com/fitness-coaching/">coaching online</a>. Similar to <a href="http://stronglifts.com/forum/bluestreak-s-story-from-skinny-to-happy-t11640.html">Bluestreak&#8217;s story</a>.  But of course only if they accept it, since I respect people&#8217;s privacy.</p>
<p>These posts will give you a better idea of what you can realistically achieve with strength training and how I deal with stubborn fat, plateaus, weight gain and all the other things you struggle with.</p>
<p>In the meanwhile: there are still spots available until July 1st 2009. <a href="http://stronglifts.com/fitness-coaching/">Coaching</a> will be closed afterwards since I&#8217;ll be <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0812992180?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=stronglcom-20&amp;link_code=as3&amp;camp=211189&amp;creative=373489&amp;creativeASIN=0812992180">vagabonding</a> in August/September. How Did I Do It?</strong> Where there&#8217;s a will, there&#8217;s a way. Life somehow brings you what you need to get what you want, if you REALLY want it. Here are some unorganized thoughts I had this week with the blog turning 1 year old.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Read</strong>. <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-will-smith-became-successful-and-how-you-could-too/">Knowledge is power</a> when applied. Stop watching TV &amp; read everything you come across: copywriting, marketing, psychology, business, spirituality, <a href="http://stronglifts.com/strength-training-key-to-building-muscle-losing-fat/">strength training</a>, nutrition, &#8230;</p>
<p><strong><br />
Just Start.</strong> You don&#8217;t need to know everything to get started. You&#8217;ll learn more by doing than by reading. Don&#8217;t fear making errors, just do it. <em>“Rejection is better than regret” &#8211; </em>Pook.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Confidence.</strong> I&#8217;m in one of the most competitive niches, English is not my primary language and I procrastinate a lot. If I can do it with all the &#8220;limitations&#8221; I face, you can do it too. Don&#8217;t be a <a href="http://stronglifts.com/the-crabs/">crab</a>. You can achieve anything if you work hard. <em>&#8220;Your only limitation is the one that you set up in your own mind&#8221; &#8211; </em>Napoleon Hill</p>
<p><strong><br />
Leads</strong>. It always comes down to generating AND converting leads.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Love the Game. </strong>Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Keep playing.</p>
<p><strong><br />
The Big Picture.</strong> Keep it in mind. Remove what holds you back.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Critiques.</strong> Some people won&#8217;t like you &amp; what you&#8217;re doing. You can&#8217;t change them. Learn to deal with it.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Sacrifice.</strong> There&#8217;s no something for nothing and you can&#8217;t get everything in life.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Set Goals.</strong> For everything. Big &amp; mini-goals. Aim high. Review goals constantly.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Give. </strong>Building experience is more important than a paycheck.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Money.</strong> Change to regain freedom. To set your own rules. To do something you like. Don&#8217;t change for the money. <em>“Those who work for money alone, and who receive for their pay nothing but money, are always underpaid&#8221; &#8211; </em>Napoleon Hill</p>
<p><strong><br />
Purpose. </strong>You have one. Find it.</p>
<p><strong><br />

Desire. </strong>You can get whatever you want, get out of whatever situation if you REALLY want it. The only real thing that stands between your present situation and where you want to be is YOU. You decide what happens to you. NO-ONE ELSE. They know NOTHING.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Burn Your Bridges.</strong><em> &#8220;When Julius Caesar landed his army in England, he was determined to take no chances of possible retreat. He wanted to show his men that their invasion meant victory or death. He burned all his ships before their eyes.&#8221;</em></p>

What Is. </strong>Life has its own way to push you in another direction and teaching you lessons the hard way. <p>You won&#8217;t find information on isolating muscles here. StrongLifts.com is about getting stronger. The stronger you get, the more muscles you&#8217;ll have. The more muscles you have, the more calories you&#8217;ll burn, and the lower your body fat.</p>

Get into bodybuilding once you can at least <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-squat-with-proper-technique-fix-common-problems/">Squat</a> 1.5x your own body-weight for 1 rep. Bodybuilding is about &#8220;shaping&#8221; muscles, you need some base muscle mass, and thus base strength, before you think about that.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve done bodybuilding for years. Strength training is more fun. Answers to the Questions. </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Forearms</strong>. <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-deadlift-with-proper-technique/">Deadlifts</a>, <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-do-pull-ups-and-chin-ups-with-proper-technique/">Pull-ups</a>, Chin-ups, <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-perform-the-barbell-row-with-proper-technique/">Barbell Rows</a>. Squeeze the bar hard. You&#8217;ll get strong &amp; muscular forearms.</li>
<li><strong>Outside Leg Muscles</strong>. <a href="http://stronglifts.com/how-to-front-squat-with-proper-technique/">Front Squats</a> build muscular quad muscles, assuming that is what you mean.</li>
<li><strong>Arm Work</strong>. You&#8217;re stronger using a shoulder-width grip on Pull-ups &amp; Chin-ups. Focus on your back &amp; legs by the way, not your arms.</li>
