I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi all,

I just love strong lifts! For the first time in my life I know I will not have to be obese till I die!

I started Stronglifts 5x5 on 24th January 2009. Its 10 weeks tomorrow. For the first time ever, I failed on squats today (97.5kg- 5x5, 5x5, 4x5, 2x5), I think it had to do with the fact that I worked till midnight yesterday, and the nightmares last night! :D

My current progress (as of earlier today, all 5x5):
Squats 95 kg (209 lb)
Dead lift 110kg (242 lb) I do two sets of 5x5
Overhead press 45kg (99 lb)
Bench press 62.5kg (137.5 lb)
Reverse rowing body weight 3x8
Push ups body weight 3x20
Pull ups body weight 3x5
Chin ups body weight 3x7

Pull ups & chin ups have been most dissapointing, with very little progress. I have been cutting since I ever started, so though I eat well, its intentionally below my caloric output. On 1st Nov my weight was 87kg (body fat off the charts), back then I was doing a lot of machines and spinning. When I started stronglifts my weight was 78kg (body fat 21%). I am now at 73kg (body fat about 17%). I love the way I look in the mirror!

My current goal is body fat down to 10% and a glorious 6 pack by 10th June. Its already peeking through!

I hope this will inspire others as it has inspired my wife. She started stronglifts 5x5 on 24th March 2009. The only weight lifting she's ever done is carrying aroung our 14kg son! :)

Thanks Mehdi and team for the great work. All the best to everyone out there.

Awesome job GB, keep it up. Your enthusiasm is palpable. Hang in there on the Pullups (pun intended), they'll get there.

Thanks lovestolift! I just love this program. I forgot to say, I end with 15 min of HIIT EVERYTIME! Initially it was on a treadmill, hill sprint, worked up from incline 3 to 5, speed 15 sprint, walk speed 6, repeat for 6 sets. Then I changed, now I sprint across a cricket pitch, then walk back, repeat 6 times. Like someone once said, HIIT is a real bitch. It literally scares me.

Hey grassburn - congrats on those numbers, I'm very impressed given you're on a restricted calorie diet!!! Way to go... it's posts like these that get people into this programme, and like you I'm loving it too. Keep it up!!!
