I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. :lol: But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Well done on the 100kg... Quite a milestone when achieved. That was my original milestone when I started squatting a year ago or so.
I find squatting the hardest and most taxing - currently at a b/w of 89kg I've just achieved 115kg with 5x5 although I peaked at 120kg 5x5 a few months ago. Alas, I couldn't squat for a while and it ebbed away and I had to start at 100kg again... A bit like "snakes and ladders"...
Cheers,

im in the 90kg club ;) today ill be squating body weight at 200lbs! and bench at 190! man i cant believe that i did that in 2.5 month ( and i did have some minor injuries, after reading online they are inflamations and gotta see a doc but havnt had the time lol ) so considering that i did stall or lower the weight few days, well its still a great atcheivment. Hope i can squat that 200lbs and bench 200lbs in 2 days scary!

The shoulder feels alot better today, it feels like a strand of muscle in there keeps getting preasured or somthing, like i know its not shoulder cuff injury or anything like that because i can still do OHP. It hurts when im doing pushups, or when i rotate my right arm when stretching ( front part of the shoulder doesnt feel like the bone) what do you guys think?

Im the type of person who always pushes him self, i feel bad when i take it easy and i know ill make injuries worse but i feel like its not so bad and continue lifting >.> the addiction sucks lol.

and grats on 100kg sounds hard O.O

I just had to post on this thread as I effectively joined the 100 kilo squat club by accident this evening. The longer version of the story is in my training log, but a quick summary follows

I popped into Crossfit Tyneside this evening and persuaded Blaine who was taking the session to critique my form and technique on the 4 SL lifts. After this we decided to through in a set of 3x5 squats as a short workout, and in the course of my warm up sets I unintentionally worked my way up to my current deadlift weight of 95kg instead of the 75kg I should have been doing for squats.

As this went so well we figured I might as well have a quick go at the magic 100kg squat and did a set of 3.

Right now I am feeling absolutely great and there was no way I was going to miss the chance to shout about it a bit on this thread. :D

Joined the club last week. I was squating 120kg before I started stronglifts so it wasn't a hard slog. I started at 60kg and appreciated being able to work on my form for a while. I'm looking at 150kg as the next goal.

Just a couple of lifts to go there biasedbulldog. You'll get there and then a few workouts later, be eyeing off a bigger goal.

Yay! Today I also did 225 lbs/100 kilos! And I got all 5 on all 3 sets too! (I'm doing rippetoes program... don't know if I coulda made it 2 more sets like in stronglifts lol) Sadly I won't have any access to barbells when I get back to college the closest thing they got at the school gym is a smith machine:( would doing things like pistols (which Id have to learn how to do...) dips and pullups make me stronger at my barbell lifts or at least help me maintain my strength for when I can use barbells again?

@nburge, adamr. Cheers
Still going to continue with the scheduled weights on the 5x5 though. It was a great boost to do 3x100kg, but I am not going to rush the program just because of a good day.
I may put in one or two slightly larger jumps in weight for both the squat and deadlift over the next few weeks though.

@biasedbulldog, Wooderson, brye

Congrats! Feels great to hit the milestone doesn't it?

congrats nburge...

Would like to see your progress as similar height/weight.

Could you pls tell me if/when/how many times you failed to complete the 5x5 or even stalled (3 failures), before reaching 100kg?

Also, did you form start going bad as you approached 100kg?

The reason I ask is that today was the first time I failed at only 87.5kg after 6 weeks (started at 50kg).
I got 5,3,5,5,5 at 87.5kg

The failed set was the only one where my hams didn't touch my calves as I wanted to experiment, even though I went below parallel. Not sure if this is a bad thing or not??

Also, I've found that since 85kg, my form is getting worse with my shoulders not rising as fast as my hips. I seem to get stuck half way up the lift, when all time stands still and I try my best to move my shoulders up. Eventually, they do - but it seems like an eternity.

I'm gonna spend more time reading Starting Strength, but all advice would be appreciated.

ps. Squats were still fun until the last session, but no more!

I actually managed to squeeze out 5x5 at 100kgs during my workout this afternoon. i think including warm up sets, my squats took about 30-40 minutes. Im am feeling it now some 10 hours later. the fronts of my quads have never felt so sore before. But i'm going to openly admit that my squats are not ass-to-grass. Im hitting parallel and a little more at the moment. Physio suggested i not squat as deep whilst i sort out my tight outer quad issues :(
