I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi all!

I just did 5x5 at 100.7kg yesterday evening. I'm just a few kilos away from the 1.5BW squat.
I haven't stalled even once yet, but it sure is getting tough.

PS: my bar is 8.7kg, hence the weird weight numbers I'm lifting.

Felicitations, bien fait ;)

Don't worry about the weights getting heavier, it'll only get worse from now on
Also, do not think in advance you will stall. You only know when it happens, never before.
Keep that in mind and I am sure you will be able to advance a lot further ;)

Thanks for the kind words H. I've been progressing slowly, adding 2kg each time. However, I've not missed a single session since I started almost 2 months ago.

But you're right, it's all in the head. When I get under the bar, I do it to succeed, not to fail.

haven't read the whole topic, just kinda skimmed through so apologies if i'm repeating something already said. if anyone is struggling getting their squats up though and has been stalling on SL, i can personally recommend the super squats programme aka 20 rep breathing squats. i used to train a lot and was pretty damn fit but then let myself go the last few years (4 or 5). back in june i started on super squats programme (although different to SL, very similar in other ways & in its basic principles of using squats & core exercises) and on tuesday this week i squatted 150kg for 3 reps which is more than i have ever done previously. i'd still consider myself out of shape & can't wait to get into SL 5x5 & even though i've only done 1 day on SL I just KNOW its gonna work wonders for me. i can feel it already & can't wait to get to the gym later today. What i'm saying is that if anyone is in the reverse position to me i.e. started on SL but now needs something else to trigger more gains then supersquats may be something to look at. i can see me alternating these two workouts for years to come. supersquats is also recommended reading by mehdi if i remember correctly. my gains in squats (60kg on workout 1 in june for 10 reps to 150k for 3 reps this week) were also achieved by not following the programme properly i.e my guess is i did 1.5 workouts per week instead of receommended 3, i had a week off here & there, & also my diet could be better. anyway...just my 2 cents worth to try & help.
