I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Does 80kg in a comp last September count? Missed 85 - bit soft on locking out R arm. Haven't done much Olympic lifting recently because of shoulder problems. Hope to get back into it this year.

I'm happy if no one else has any problems.

summerss wrote:Since there aren't any challenges yet that involve lifting a barbell from the floor to locked out overhead, I decided to start a C&J challenge. I've chosen 100kg because it's an achievable target given a little time.

I'm currently on 70kg so I've got a while to go yet.

Rules:-

Must start from the ground and finish locked out overhead.
All done together, i.e. no clean, then leave the bar racked and come back and do the jerk later on.
Squat cleans or power cleans accepted.
Video worth doing but not essential.

Anyone in?

Out of curiosity, I took what I had learnt from practicing the Snatch and applied it to the Clean, as a result my explosiveness has improved and I've added 5kg to my total. There should be more to come from the Clean but my Jerk probably won't keep up.

OK - I'm in - should check these posts more often to see more competitions to get involved in. Current bodyweight ~89kgs, current C&J 1RM = 85kgs - will be testing the 1RM again in late March so will hopefully bust through the goal then.

Hm, I'll be in this, tentatively. The focus is on getting powerlifts up, but my interest in olympic lifts is growing.

82kg at NZ Masters Games last weekend. Only a 2kg improvement, but nevertheless an improvement. Results somewhere near the bottom of the page in here

Odd logic?

guru wrote:...Now, when posting new entries / updates, please quote the first post, add or update your details & post, so it is easy for us moderators to update the first post.

I see this is a common practice on these forums, but it seems a very strange and error-prone method to achieve a very simple result.

Rhetorical question: Is the rigmarole of quoting, editing the quote with your own update, having the moderator copy the quote, check that the 'old' data in the quote hasn't accidentally been corrupted by the new poster, pasting the entire quote into the first post, deleting the quote from the new post and replacing it with the word "updated" really less error-prone and less tedious for either moderator or poster than simply having the moderator copy a one-liner (member name and weight lifted) from a new post into the right place in the first post and adding an "updated" note in the new post (while leaving the original data in the new post available as an audit trail)? Can't be all that hard to work out where the line should go amonst that huge list of five (so far) in the first post

Or, to put it more succinctly: Would you use a sledgehammer to crack a nut?

Oh well ... When I get a decent weight to post guess I'll have to get the sledgehammer out.

You're right. In a small competition like this it is indeed easier the way you suggest. What I said is more applicable for the Strongest Man thread, where the categories / names are more.

OK, chuck me on the board please. 83kg at a local round robin competition this morning. Personal goal is to get 90kg before too long. 100kg would be sweet - we'll see.

They haven't been active on the forum for a long time, so I don't think they're still interested in this challenge.
