I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

100kg Clean and Jerk

Since there aren't any challenges yet that involve lifting a barbell from the floor to locked out overhead, I decided to start a C&J challenge. I've chosen 100kg because it's an achievable target given a little time.

I'm currently on 70kg so I've got a while to go yet.

Rules:-

Must start from the ground and finish locked out overhead.
All done together, i.e. no clean, then leave the bar racked and come back and do the jerk later on.
Squat cleans or power cleans accepted.
Video worth doing but not essential.

Anyone in?

I'm in! Haven't C&J'd in about 2 months, but will start again in late Aug/early Sep... I was at about 82kg last time I did them -- don't have the facilities to do them now :(

Awesome competition guys.

I'd love to join in, but I can barely clean, let alone clean & jerk. Also, it would be really great if you posted videos, even when u just get near to 100kg. I'd be interested to see the technique involved.

James1v27 - welcome to the challenge.

natew - http://stronglifts.com/the-ultimate-beginners-guide-to-power-cleans/ shows how to clean and the squat clean is acceptable. http://stronglifts.com/how-to-perform-the-olympic-jerk/shows how to do the jerk, and has clips of people doing the clean and jerk.

Take care guys. Make sure you have somewhere to dump the weights as you don't want to be stuck with a failed lift in the overhead phase.

I'll put a leaderboard in anyway, but I can't edit it as I'm not a Mod.

Great.
I hope more people join in, its a great lifting exercise combining an variation of Power clean and the press into one.

I will maybe put up a video of me doing the Clean&Jerk at the upcoming Norwegian Championship about in 2-3 weeks, probably a new PR on the event.
