I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Well I have now progressed to 60kg deadlift. I use weights with edges on them, they are not round.

So everytime I lower the weight, it will land in a different position. I always have to reposition.

Today I used 3 minutes to do just 5 reps. That's 36 seconds per rep.

Is this bad???

Another problem is that I have only one barbell. Between the last set of OHP and the first set of Deadlift, I take 6 minutes just to fix stuff like loading the barbell, placing it on the floor etc.

And when I have finished deadlift, it takes another 4 minutes between the last set of deadlift before I can do the first set of pull ups/chin ups...

As the weights are not round and not coming down in the same position, you gotta do what you gotta do. Reposition them and make sure that "you" are set-up right for the next pull. I don't see 30 odd seconds between reps as a terrible thing. Just don't get in a hurry to pull again, all it takes is to not be set-up right one time to get hurt and have a set-back. Don't ask me how I know!

I also would not worry about the time it takes go go from OHP to Deadlifts, etc... 6-10 mins is not a killer, you are moving weights around etc.... and you don't seem to have much choice with your current set-up. Don't let that be a deal-killer for working out.

Keep at it, when the weights get a lot heavier, you will be glad for the rest.
Good luck!

Yea I guess you're right...however I did try with round weights also. Still, I never manage to land the barbell in the original position I picked it up from...It always rolls all over the place

If you have no full sized round plates at your disposal perhaps you should consider rack pulls?

I agree, feet should not be moving at all, I do a few jumps before deadlifts, feet shoulder width apart, toes slightly pointing out, get a nice secure stance, get those heals pressing and concentrait with using the glutes pushing hips forward taking the strain away from the back.

EXCELLENT suggestion.

Pins set as low as possible so the plates do not touch the ground by a fraction of an inch.
If needed, use bricks under the bar to get the right height (provided you workout at home).

Time is irrelevant between sets generally. But here's a tip that will help you out a lot. Put the bar on the floor for the OHP. After squats put it on the floor, then load it for the OHP, then clean the bar to your shoulders to do the OHP. Obviously start light and do warm-up sets, but by the time you are warmed up and done with 5x5 OHP cleaning from the floor, you have automatically done half your deadlift warmup. Saves time, and helps your deadlift anyway.
