2XBW Squat Challenge

Postby Young Athlete on Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:30 am

Well I would love to squat 405lbs but I don't think that is possible right now, although would anyone like to race to 2Xbw???

I don't know how long this will take but anyone up for the challenge?

I'm currently putting up 1.5XBw the last time i maxed which was a week ago so anyone in for the challenge?

I'm in. Body-weight: about 73kg, so that would be 146kg (let's say 150kg, sometimes I'm 75kg). Low bar, raw, no belt. Box squat 127,5kg this week, so I think squat is around 135kg.

I would, but at 230lbs it would be way more than practical to make it a goal right now. Getting to 405 will be challenging enough. I think 460 is just a bit out of reality for right now. But good challenge and I'll be watching with great anticipation to see how it goes.

For me, 405 and 2x BW are virtually the same. I weigh 195 lbs.
Goals:
Squat- 315 lbs 3x5
Deadlift- 400 lbs 1x5 (regular grip)
Bench Press- 200 lbs 3x5

2xBW for 5 reps?

I'm going to see what my doctor says about my knee. If it isn't serious and I only need rest, I'll be in for both challenges when I'm back to lifting again. 300lbs would be more than 2xBW for me. 405lbs would be huge for me. Never lifted over 400lbs in my life.

I'll be in it if you allow the use of a belt, got some lower back issues and never squat more than 100kg without it. Using a belt is still considered raw in most powerlifting comps.

Question- How do we go about this? Say we are on SS or Texas method currently, do we bust out the challenge when we feel we're ready or do we have a set date for all of us do the challenge together?

Ok on the belt, I won't use one.

Deadline: January 1st 2009. Anyone who gets to 2xBW first wins, if nobody gets there, the one who gets closest to 2xBW wins. 2xBW for 1 reps is fine by me too.

Write your current body-weight/max squat, I'll add it at the top.

Been thinking about doing a quick smolov base mesocycle, the shoulder injury is somewhat holding me back to do it.

You to, I have been doing some shoulder rehab to, I looked at doing smolov but I only have a squat rack 3X a week unless I went 4 Days straight. The program itself looks insane, mini smolov will be challenging to most likely.
