I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Well, in two more workouts ill be done with the 5x5 Beginner Challenge!

I went from barely bieng able to do a squat because of hip flexibility and kyphosis to 225lb squat (in 3 days) and just that accomplishment that when all said i couldnt do it cuz of kyphosis, and that first squat that i ever done :) well its just such an amazing feeling; and just the pure power that you feel where you push that weight with all you can, where when you started and thought it wouldnt happen in 12 weeks ^^

Or when you go from 110lb bench to 200 in 2 workouts ( Cant wait! i cant even believe that i have hit 1x bw!) Although i still need a spotter its still an accomplishment.

My overhead press went from 55lb to 120lb by the end of this week, and just the pure endurance that you have where the muscle is dead and you continue to push it, or the 220lb DL with crappy grip lol ( my grip str went up so much since i started the program)

I remember starting and saying will i be able to do 1 pullup ever? lol i still can barely do pullup just cuz it feels wierd on my shoulder, so I do neutral grip pullups instead and 2 weeks ago my bro said i wont spot u, and you have to pullup ur self for the first set... Well I did 8 the first set all alone!

All in all i didnt see much def in my bi's just more pointy like a mountain, my shoulders for the first time started to curve (still small but more proportionate for my body and they are round :) ) My shoulders, legs , chest , and calves started to take def than i ever saw in 6 months of isolation...
I do believe that any type of workout will seed results, whether its 5x5 or isolation the difference is that isolation without str is pointless.

I went from 210lb at 5' 11.5"(fat, no muscle) at like 23%bf down to 13.5%bf at 178lbs, bulked on 5x5 and at 204 now. I started with a 12 week isolation program, then did w.e to cut with martial arts, a month after maintenance started 5x5 begginer program and now i might go back to a 12 week isolation program just for a little more size, followed by Billstars 5x5 intermediate , and finally 5x5 SL Advanced.

Thank you mehdi for this program and that excellent excel sheet and i wish luck to every one; I dont worry about how i look like now, because ill continue to bulk and get stronger and after a year of hardwork ill look in the mirror ;)

Great job. Added you here: stronglifts-5x5-success-stories-t8249.html

Why are you going to stop the routine? It doesn't stop after 12 weeks or anything. It stops when you stall at least 2 times on squat; If you haven't one: keep doing the routine. milk it out.

Pics would be great!

your progress seems unreal!

Compound lifts mustve unlocked the strength from the isolation work youve done in the past either that or your very genetically gifted. Either way, congratulations. And as mehdi said, if it aint broke dont fix it. Youce made such impressive gains, why not see how much further you can get?

ill give you pics after i cut ;)

First question: What do you mean by stall atleast 2 times? stall on the entire 5x5? or because i went down to 3x5 and i do fine till maybe the last rep on the last set? would that be stalling? if not then ill milk the hell out of it :P

Me and my bro have gained quiet a bit of weight fast in beginning then it started to slow down, i mean very fast weight gain lol would that be newb gains? he hasnt really worked out in a while but he is more fit than me (Muscle wise). I still stall on Bench like i can do the first set and half fine then i need more spotting ( which becomes negative reps at this point but some people on forums said that thats a viable workout? does that help with str gains? or should i reduce down to 10%?).

My bro at this point has big legs , and torso, decent size shoulders and forarms.... but well small Bi's thats why we where about to do heavy weight isolation after but i wanted to ask you, when does that size come? at what weight does the testostrone do its job?

WHo cares how cut you are. :P.

With the routine the way it is, as with any strength training, utilising the compound exercises will deliver proportional growth. Ultimately, your biceps, triceps, abs, back, shoulders, everything... will be as big and as strong as they need to be to successfully complete the exercises. :D
