I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi:

I just started on StrongLifts 5X5 training plan -- and my left knee joint is in pain while walking (not while sitting or sleeping).

It is not very severe, but I would like to understand the cause and prevent it happening again.

I had worked out Stronglifts 5X5 after which the pain started same day.

Location of pain is *front* side of left knee, around area *below* knee cap.

It started after I worked out as below:

-- BB squat: 5x5 ( with empty Olympic BB )
-- Pull-ups: 3XF
-- BB deadlift: 1X5 ( with empty Olympic BB )
-- Overhead Press ( with empty Olympic BB )

So, the loading is not too much as you can see above -- maybe it is the squat technique ? or is just body needs adjustment to new workout (which is BB squat, BB Deadlift)

(I have tried to follow all squat technique instruction that I know -- like keep back straight, look forward, toes follow knees etc.).?

What can I do to avoid knee pain happening again ?

It is kind of frustrating to not be able to workout for 2-3 days more, when I had just started on 5x5 plan after losing 1-2 weeks layoff due to cold/flu.
And before that I had jus t hurt me knee -- this time due to running on tredmill too fast :(

Does anybody faced this issue sometime or the other ? How did you resolve it ? Any other ideas that will help me ?

Thanks a lot.

Its quite possible that the pain is the result of poor form, could you post a video for a critique - thats usually the best way to help

Yes I had problem with knee many times in last few years.
Most easy way to tigger my knee pain ( I think it is knee tendanitis) is by jogging/running.
