I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Alter Stronglifts 5x5 for Mass Gains?

Postby Dexter8808 on Wed Nov 04, 2009 4:06 am

I am wondering , when it is time to move on for the Stronglifts 5x5 program what routine to do next for mass gains.

With a power rack, olympic barbell + plates, and dumbbells only, could Stronglifts 5x5 be altered to (maybe changeing sets/rep amounts) to become more of a mass building program for size? Is this possible?

In what way do you wish to alter it? Mass gains should come from heavy lifting and big eating. If you are asking if it can be made into a body building program, then probably not successfully. It works the way it is.

what are your stats?

It would be time to move on to something different if you have achieved both a 1.5xBW squat target and have stopped making progress with the beginner 5x5 method. If it is still working then keep it up.

If you havent reached that stage stick with the programme, lift hard and eat big.
