I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Can anyone give me any good feedback or experiences from the diet? I am starting it tomorrow.

Anabolic diet

Postby elisa » Sat Jan 12, 2008 11:10 pm

I've been doing this diet since December 10.
I feel pretty good on it but I don't tend to eat a lot of carbs anyways, I just don't do well on them so the transition was not hard for me.

By Friday I am pretty sick of the diet and can't wait until Saturday but usually by Saturday evening it just isn't that great and I look forward to Monday again.
So I think the changes from weekday to weekend at least give you some variety.

I have been reading a lot of threads on this diet and it seems to take awhile before your body switches. I am not sure if my body has switched because I have actually gained weight but I do feel good.
I started a thread with my diet so I hope that will help to make sure I am doing it correctly.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Anabolic diet

Mehdi says this endlessly on here, but you probably need to add cardio or cut calories by 500.
Gaining weight is normal on the AD, but thats due to the weekend carb load. By wed you should be back to normal weight.
I'd look at it this way, weight youself _before_ the carb load and use that measurement. If its still going up and you are use it isn't solid muscle, you need to cut calories a little bit

Anabolic diet

I was lethargic the first week. I had "brain fog." Actually, it was more like "brain fart" because I would forget things. It was a very tough week for me. My coworkers caught me sleeping on my desk several times. By the end of the week, I lost a lot of strength which is normal.

By week two, I was a bit more alert. A bit more energetic.

By week three, I was perfectly fine. Strength was coming back.

By week four, I felt normal again. Strength was back 100%. I also felt that my body was now using fat as source of energy.
I lost 11 pounds by this period, but I also feel that I became more muscular and a little bigger. I also felt calmer primarily because the old-fashioned American diet of high carbs no longer controlled my emotions via the ups and downs of insulin.

I would suggest getting a fat caliper. You can get one for $20 US.

The focus should be on "fat loss" and not much on "weight loss." So a caliper would be a great tool to measure your progress.

One last thing, I know it sounds cheesy, but you should consider the power of the mind. What I mean by this is that I actually wrote down my goals on a piece of paper and taped it in front of my workout logbook. This way, I can read my bodybuilding goals everyday. It motivates me, keeps me focused, and it assures that I don't cheat (I have sweet tooth).

For instance, you can write down your goal as:

"BY THE END OF MAY 2008, I WILL HAVE BODY FAT OF 15% (DOWN FROM 25%). MY MUSCLE MASS WILL ALSO INCREASE BY 10 POUNDS, GOING FROM CURRENT 150 LEAN MASS TO 160 LEAN MASS. I WILL LOSE 2 LBS OF FAT PER WEEK AND GAIN 1 LB OF MUSCLE FOR THE NEXT 10 WEEKS."

Mind over matter. It's a pretty powerful stuff. Good Luck.
