I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Apirl 5th 2009 new deadlift world record 1008lbs! No question this time about whether or not the lift was locked out.

It sort of looks like they ran out of plates. The inside plates look like they are used for warm ups. Lifting more weight than they have at the competition, now that's something to brag about.

Rere's training log II
The squat, press, deadlift, and bench press have been used for decades by the strongest athletes on the planet. There is good reason for that. Any program that doesn’t use them is inferior to one that does.

Ehhh? I thought he got a 1000lb deadlift a few years ago because I was reading Starting Strength 2nd Edition yesterday & Mark Rippetoe wrote:

The meet was often won by a lifter with a bigger deadlift than his squat. It is hard to overstate the strength of a man with an 800 lb. + deadlift, a feat accomplished by only an elite few lifters. Nine hundred-pound contest deadlifts have occurred only a handful of times, although many more have accomplished this with straps (which eliminate the grip-strength aspect of the lift). As of this writing, a 1000 lb. deadlift had only been done by the UK lifter Andy Bolton.

Andrew Bolton from the United Kingdom pulled 1003 pounds (454.95 kgs) in 2006.

Starting Strength 2nd edition (October 21, 2007)

5 April 2009
The record under WPO powerlifting rules is 457.5 kg (1008.6 lbs) by Andy Bolton

That's an increase of 5.6lbs
Not a lot 5M1L3Y but a huge amount i'd say when added to a 1003lb DL to turn it into a 1008.6lb DL

remember 5M1L3Y that we are talking about a person genetic potential. we are seeing the top of asymptotic curve in the capabilities he can lift. i am just amazed that he can keep piling on the weight even if its a pound a year.
