    I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. :lol: But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

As we are neat the end of the year, it is a good time to reflect upon the goals we have set and to see if we can achieve them and plan the goals for next year.

For this year, I wanted to reach intermediate level on all lifts and I've been struggling with the deadlift and the Clean. I have recently achieved the deadlift goal after getting new weights and deciding to attack it a few days ago. For the Clean, I'm still 7.5kg away from intermediate level and plan to launch a full scale attack on it on new years eve.

For next year, I want to get to advanced level on all lifts. This means adding 30kg to my squat, 17.5kg to my Bench Press, 50kg to my deadlift, 7.5kg to my OHP and 35kg to my Clean.

How has everyone else done with their goals and what do you have in mind for next year?

Still got a week to properly assess my goals. Some will be mighty close even though they were set rather aggressive, some will be a total miss.
Doesn't matter, I'm only doing this a good 15 months so I am still learning to set more realistic goals knowing my body better and better over time.

For next year I am thinking in the direction of 600/500/300 for Deadlift/Squat/Bench.
Simple round numbers which, I fully realize, do require a lot of work to get there :twisted:
I will decide once I have the assessment of this year completed.

On the not-performance related basis I really need to construct my wooden power rack (my squat stands are not going to keep supporting the adding of weight) and I need to get a proper bench (I can't keep on doing floor press forever). This should ideally be realized during the first quarter already.

I didn't take the time to set goals for this year although I'm very pleased with how the year turned out. For the end of the year 2010 I would like to set my goals as Squat 400, Deadlift 500, Bench 300 and Press 200 all in pounds. These are very round and I hope achievable. Everything is about 65-80% more than I'm lifting now but I've only been at SL5x5 for 6 months. Hopefully on a similar thread next year I will be writing about how I nailed and surpassed all my goals.

2x BW squat(160kg)
2.5xBW Deadlift(200kg)
1.5xBW bench(120kg)

These are my goals. I'll do my best to acheive them, and I'll probably be happy as long as I make an honest attempt at reaching them.

Hell yes! That's a great set of goals right there and I'm looking forward to seeing you get to that level. I"m trying to wrap my head around a 600lb dead and 500lb squat. Or do you mean 600kg dead??? :twisted:

My goals are at the bottom of my sig and will be adjusted as necessary during the year. Right now I would love to see a 500 dead and a 400 squat as well as repping my BW for OHP.

I would like to reach 5x5 405 for Squat, 1x5 475 for Dead and 5x5 275 for Bench. I feel pretty good about reaching the Squat and Deads goal, but will need to keep healthy and be more focused than I have been in the past to reach my Bench goal.

I actually started SL 5x5 on the 21st June 2009 so on Monday i hit the six-month mark exactly.

Starting Stats: (Note: these were not maxes)
Bodyweight: 85.5kg
Squats (high bar): 37.3kg
Overhead Press: 32.3kg
Deadlift: 37.3kg
Bench Press: 27.3kg
Barbell Rows: 27.3kg

All maxes are real lifts (non-calculated) but the reps vary
@ Current BW of 90kg

Squat
Max: 127.5kg
3 Month Goal: 75kg
6 Month Goal: 100kg
# Overachieved :D I have always had large legs (but not long) legs which has contributed here.

OHP
Max: 57.5kg
3 Month Goal: 50kg
6 Month Goal: 60kg
# I was a bit ambitious here but i have done well i think :)

Bench
Max: 77.5kg
3 Month Goal: 60kg
6 Month Goal: 80kg
# I hit 3x5 on 77.5kg today, but i will make a PR and hit my goal 2 days late on Wednesday!

Deadlift
Max: 130kg
3 Month Goal: 100kg
6 Month Goal: 135kg
# The goal was a good one, i think i went down to 2.5kg increases too soon and i must admit i have been struggling with the deads

Barbell Rows
Max: 75kg
3 Month Goal: 60kg
6 Month Goal: 70kg
# I am pleased i have achieved this goal but its not an important one to me.

I have not made any goals for Power Cleans as i only recently started doing them, however on Monday i should reassess my goals so i will probably create one then.

Overall i am pleased with my six months results. What i am probably thinking of is looking more towards bw% targets for the big three, my most immediate goals are 2xbw deadlift (180kg - i think i can add 40kg in a year?, i will need 2 more plates though :p), 1xbw bench (90kg - just 10kg away right now), and 1.5xbw squat (135kg - the next 7.5kg is going to be difficult i think but i should be able to do it in 3 months). - These are not concrete goals just ideas at the moment.

I smashed my goals for November. Next target is 600 kg 5 lift total for June.
Goals for 2010 (in kg)
Squat - 170
Bench - 120
Deadlift - 200
Press - 90
Clean - 120
For a 700 kg 5 lift total. I should get the 600 kg in no worries, but the 700 kg is going to be pretty hard, including BW+ overhead...
183 cm, 88 kg, 5 months training
Squat 135 kg, Bench 85 kg, Deadlift 175 kg

1.5xBW squats is still ahead for me - and has receded slightly, since I put on 4kg so far. I now need to hit 114kg and I have a feeling that I won't get from here to there at the rate of 7.5kg per week.

1xBW bench would be another nice one to hit. It will take a while to add 17.5kg to my bench - I've stopped making straight gains there.

As for press, I'll just be glad if I can manage constant progress for a decent period of time, now that I've switched to smaller increments.

My goals for 2010

1.5x BW = squat(88.5kg)
1.8xBW =Deadlift(106kg)
1xBW = Bench press(59kg, Is it possible for me?...)
0.8xBW= Overhead (48kg)
0.8xBW = Powerclean (48kg)
15ea(right posture)= Dips
15ea(right posture)=Pull ups

current
72.5kg= Squat
70kg=Deadlift
35kg=Bench press
27.5kg=Overhead press
30kg=Powerclean
1ea(right posture)= Dips
1ea(right posture)=chin ups

One question
If my body weight(fat) go down should I reduce goal(kg)? or stick with that I wrote down above?
cause recently my body weight has gone down bit it gives me week for Deadlift (77.5kg to 70kg ^^;)
Actually i want to reduce 4kg down this year (I hope it will be all fat- My country doesn't have fat scale ^^;)

My goal is to move up one at least one lifter classification each year, lifting raw. How that total actually breaks down into squat/bench/DL matters very little to me.

I'm going to answer this. I weigh less than 10kg more than you, and most of that is in my legs (cyclist). I went up to my bodyweight in 3x8 bp in a little over a month of lifting.

I will say that I use the smith/whatever stabilizing thing for BP because I workout most of the time when few other people are in the gym and if people are there they can't help spot even at that weight...

You can do it, just work at it!

I'm going to have trouble getting my squats up because I have really long legs, but that's a challenge more than an excuse!
