I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Got to the gym earlier, was warming up, did about 10 minutes on a bike
went over to the squat rack, did my warm up sets
loaded the bar down with my working weight

first set went okay, second set second rep i felt something crunch. Finished out my set as there was no pain, but my knee started feeling a little funny so I called it a day and went on to class, while at school i noticed a signifigant amount of pain in my knee when i squatted down to pick up my pen.

So, there is no swelling, no discoloriation, and no pain aside from the signifigant pain when i squat down. The pain feels like it is closer to the front of the knee if that makes any sense.

Two things, first is there a set amount of time that I should take off from squatting, or is it a case of "when it doesn't hurt start to squat again" and are there any exercises I can do to speed up, or help with recovery?

I think this may be a form problem, although my form looks good to me, it can be hard to judge for yourself, my hamstrings are also abnormally tight and they cause me lower back pain pretty consistantly even though I have a good amount of flexability.

Without seeing a video all I can say is that the usual culprit is failure to keep the knees shoved out when you squat. Open your groin, get your knees out. If you think they're out enough, they aren't. Pretend as if you're trying to touch your knees to the walls on either side of you.
