I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi! I used to play guitar for years but gave it up when I bought a little baglama which is a Greek instrument. It's basically a miniature bouzouki if you've ever heard of one. I started off learning riffs from magazines and ended up teaching myself to read and play classical guitar, but I gave it all up when I got my baglama. I just loved it's sound and the music you play with it which is old Greek music called rebetika. Here's a song I put on youtube.

My favorite guitarist would have to be Joe Frusciante from the red hot chilli peppers. I also love flea on the bass, great combination.

Not a big surprise, but Jimi Hendrix tops my list. After him, Jimmy Page. These guys pioneered the guitar sound that led rock music to where it is today.

If you want to check out a really cool, but very different, guitar player, check out Robert Randolph. Clapton has him to all of his guitar festivals (Crossroads).

Thanks for this topic! I never realized I knew who Robert Randolph was. I have The Word and the stuff he did with the Blind Boys of Alabama which is awesome.
1) Hendrix
2)Zappa
3) SRV
4) Tony Iommi for the sheer number of heavy riffs he did with Sabbath
I like Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and The Black Keys for current players. I used to play but now I'd rather listen to those that do it right!

Acoustic
1)Michael Hedges
2)Kottke
I've heard Mkee's stuff a bit and its really nice too.

thanks for the responses! I had to take down my video, wanted to make some changes. Bonamassa is probably one of the best new blues/rock guitarists, along with Trucks. I cant play much anymore, playing excessively has given me back and shoulder problems. Once I iron those out I hope to start 5x5
