I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I don't know if this is an option for you, but you should consider getting your clothes tailored. Even with my lapse in training, non-tailored pants don't really fit and look like crap. Luckily I am in Vietnam, where I can get a tailor made shirt around $20 US. As a result of my getting bigger, I have found that I am wearing dress shirts and slacks much more often than I used to since tailors don't really make designer t-shirts or pre-faded jeans.

I go nude.

Bottom:
Loose straight cut jeans w/belt (otherwise i wouldn't be able to wear pants) - always covering shoe and always too much room at waist.
Plaid shorts w/ belt ( same as jeans ) - to show off my inhumanly hairy legs.

Top:
T-shirt - Medium size
Sweatshirt - medium

I have the most trouble with bottoms because my waist size fluctuates.

holy crap, I tried on some old dress pants yesterday for a presentation (which I hadn't worn for about 4 months) and it was felt so much tighter in the thigh and butt area! I hope I don't have to get new clothes =(

I've had to buy several new pairs of pants as my thighs won't fit into my old ones anymore. Annoying but I guess that's what happens when you squat 5x5 three times a week.

Also, most of my t-shirts are getting tight around the lats, shoulders and arms. Moved from M to L.

I guess all this means progress (and an empty wallet)!

I hate jeans!

My waist is comfy in 29, I actually have room to spare. But it's too tight around myself and thighs, I have to wear 32 to be somewhat comfy, but not really that either. And then I never find the correct length, they're always too long. >_<

*is currently only wearing this style pants*

T-shirts are either baggy tents, or they're too snug over my shoulders/stop just below my bellybutton.

I only wear hoodies atm, doesn't really find anything else that fits, though they're ofc baggy...

Boxers are either too large around my thighs or too small around myself.

The only thing that actually fits atm is my socks and shoes.

I wish I was rich and could have everything tailored, because this is ridiculous.

*grumbles*

I could take a notch from my belt the other day. It felt great.

I've also had the "splitting in the crotch area" problem, although its mostly with boxers and my old tracksuit pants. I'm a 34 waist, and some of my tighter boxers I have trashed even though I have skinny legs.

For shirts I feel a lot more muscular in my shoulders and arms. The belly fat prevents me from wearing stuff that is too tight fitting.

And why do bodybuilders always wear striped pants (I'm sure you must have seen them)? Do they have to? Was there a convention of bodybuilders that only approved striped pants?

Striped clothing usually makes the person look taller.

I have the same basic problems as everyone else:
* Virtually all my pre-Stronglifts pants don't fit. About 1/3 didn't get past my calves. Another 1/3 didn't get past my thighs. The remainder were either too tight in the crotch/butt/stomach.
* All my t-shirts are getting snug. Any new shirts/sweaters are now XXL
* Old belts don't fit. Stomach size varies somewhat
* Old boxers and winter pyjama pants don't fit (ripped one pair this morning)

The list goes on. Thankfully, I work from home nowadays so I'm not replacing expensive dress pants, suits, etc.

I have to say it's bloody cool that I fit my pants and shirts better. I look and feel more solid.

Hardly any of my clothes fit anymore. Some of it is due to good weight gain and some is due to not so good weight gain.

I spent over 4 hours today looking for new workout clothes, shorts and tshirts. I had already bought some jeans a couple of months ago when I started my new job. The dress code is very casual ie jeans and tshirts.

The sizes that used to fit don't fit anymore. The tshirts were too tight around my shoulders and back and because of current styles I can't find any tshirts that aren't too long. I've tried the petite section but their selection of clothing leaves much to be desired. Luckily I found some decent shirts at JC Penney.

The shorts firt funky around my hips and then gapped in the back. And that was if I was lucky enough to get them past my thighs. Even workout clothing was so difficult to find.

I finally had some success at the last store we stopped at. When I put on the shorts and they fit . . . both of my kids cheered loudly. They did so well while we were in town but I knew they were getting to their ropes end as was I.

I hope I don't have to shop for clothes for a very long time. That was exhausting. I'm so glad to be back home.

I recently had to buy some new jeans and was completely bewildered by the difference mens jeans styles. What the hell's the difference between loose, relaxed, boot cut, straight, carpenters, etc? How do I pick the one that'll fit my SL-ified legs?

I found the following very helpful mens jeans guide (after I had already done my shopping, of course ).

I have basically gone up a jean size due to thigh growth. I now wear size 34 jeans, not 30/32 as i used to; I put on a pair of jeans from a year ago and they wouldnt get past my thighs! I have also gone up a couple of t-shirt sizes. I used to wear small fitted shirts, but now i buy medium and recently bought a large polo shirt! i was pretty happy with that! I have had to chuck out loads of my t-shirts etc because they just dont fit anymore, and i am having to constantly re-stock my closet! It can be annoying, and costly, but i know its a good thing as it shows that the workout has been working!

All the squatting I've been doing for the past month and a half has basically removed any possibility of me fitting into what I like to call "asian cut" pants (not really skinny jeans, but narrow. It's the popular style in Korea XP). I went to Zara in Seoul two weeks ago and I could not get the pants up past my calves... I did eventually find some that worked in the UniQlo store, but their "loose fit" jeans fit me snugly.

Asian cut polos are a no go as well. They are either too tight around the upper torso and flair out around the waist for a really weird bell bottom effect, or they are too baggy in general. The Timberland T-shirts I bought in Hong Kong two months ago are fitting nicely at the upper torso, but the waist is way too big and the shirt in general is too long. I do find that DKNY button down shirts work with me though, and they really do a nice job of showing the V-torso shape.

I also got all my button shirts and a sport coat tailored and I get them back today. We'll see how they turned out

Looking forward to trying some Hollister muscle fit shirts when I get back stateside in a week.

Yeah i hear ya, a lot of the nicer polos and dress shirts don't look as if they would fit even someone who was remotely athletic...The ones that fit the shoulders area are all way too loose at the bottom (making it tent all out when I try to tuck it in)....

Re: Are your clothes fitting?

Around the age of 16, the waste size of my pants was about 28/29. Had a hard time finding grown men's clothes with a size like that. Few years later, starting stronglifts, the size had grown form 30, to 31 and finally 33. Now I could fit almost any pants I liked, although I couldn't wear slim models because my thighs would be stuck in the jeans. I had to buy new pants on a regular bases because my thighs grew very fast. So that was the developmnent from the age of 16 till 20.

Now here's an update from yesterday, at the age of 21, I went shopping. I couldn't find any jeans that would fit! Finally, I found a good looking pair:
SIZE 40 !!!! I was like: wow! Have I grown so much? I'm not a big guy. About 1.75-1.78 meters tall. So I was shocked and pleased with the results. It's the only piece of clothes with a good fit right now. I have to buy a lot of new clothes. The size of the upperbody clothes has grown for Small, to Medium to LArge.
