I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Are your clothes fitting?

Postby Cleave on Fri Dec 12, 2008 2:45 pm

This morning I was digging around the back of the closet for some slacks (just took a big load to the dry cleaners and didn't leave anything to wear) and found a nice pair of pants that I hadn't worn in a long time. 36x32 khaki wool dress slacks. Perfect. I hadn't worn them in years cause I had grown out of them. I slid them on and turns out they fit perfect around my waist with room to spare but they are snug around my hips and thighs.

So...I think my hips are getting bigger? Maybe not bigger but bigger in relation to my waist size. All my 36 pants are comfortable. I could almost wear 34's but I doubt it because my but and hips are gonna be too big for 34's unless they are loose as in Levi's loose cut jeans.

I've also noticed I'm filling out my shirts a lot more. My arms are completely filling a lot of my short sleeve shirt sleeves. For a while there after losing a lot of the initial weight I was thinking I might actually make it down to a large shirt but there's no way. I'm definitely an XL. My chest is officially noticeably bigger than my waist and stomach and I'm noticing suit jackets and a lot of my dress shirts are very baggy. It's definitely time to take a couple of suits back to MensWarehouse and get them adjusted.

So last night I came home from work and threw on an old pair of jeans and an old T-shirt to do a few chores around the house. I was bringing in firewood and putting up some Christmas decorations back into the attic that we didn't use....and my wife makes the comment "you look really strong." Really? When I grabbed the t-shirt I pulled one from the back of the drawer that I hadn't worn in a long time. It turns out that it was a fitted shirt that I bought at Target a couple of years ago. I never wore it much cause it didn't fit. My gut was too big! But now it fits like a glove!

This is a good problem to have but I'm now searching for some fitted shirts. Anyone have any recommendations for where to find some decent fitted shirts or pants that fit right? Any brands or stores you can recommend? It seems like it's easy to find fitted or athletic cut t-shirts but what about dress shirts? And....what the hell is the difference is "fitted" and "athletic?"

I wear 31 pants / 48 shirts, popular sizes where I live.

Pants:
* always loose at my belly, since I don't have a belly
* often tight at my legs/glutes, otherwise I could wear size 30
* Usually too short too, but that's because I got long legs. Need size 34 in length

Shirts
* Can never close the button at the neck.
* Fits shoulder nice, but if I move too much in it, I can feel it pull everywhere in my back/lats area
* I hate shirts

t-shirt
* Size M, sometimes L, depends on the brand
* Often too tight at the arms

I bought this one yesterday, it's a fitted t-shirt: http://eshop.mexx.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP. ... RE0159-022

Athletic is more loose, like rapper's wear, not my cup of tea. I don't like it too fit neither by the way, don't like getting questions about what I do all the time, prefer to keep low profile :) Best is to just try what you find, sometimes the fitted shirts are really too fitted (really a problem with italian brands like d&g, often too fit). I usually pick 10-20 stuff when I go shopping, based on looks only, then try everything and see if it fits me or not.

Good post. I was going to post something simliar. Last week I tried on my Class A uniform which I haven't worn in a while. I was worried that the pants were not going to fit well because the last time I wore them (about 6 months ago) they were pretty tight. Well I put them on and they actually fit perfectly except a bit tight in the thighs which is normal for me. I also notice my jeans are fitting looser on the waist as well. Funny things is that I have not been dieting at all (if anything during the last two weeks I've done less cardio and eating worse than usual).

I have to chalk this up to muscle gains accelerating fat loss. I haven't weighed myself lately but it does look like I have lost some fat and my wife has also commented that to me. In the upper body, I have noticed my triceps and shoulders look a little bigger. When I start eating better and adding doing cardio again, I think I should be able to get in really good shape pretty quickly.

I don't know about the clothes thing. I haven't bought any new clothes in a while, because most of the time I wear a uniform.

Suits are tight in the shoulders.

Shirts are tight in the neck.

Upper arms are starting to fill up the arms on Golf shirts and t-shirts.

Trousers are tighter in the rear.

Boxers are tighter in the rear and the thigh...I've actually ripped a few pair along the leg seam when I've squatted down to pick something up.

BUT...its all good.

LOL!!!! My sizes are all f%&*d up. I'm actually wealing large boxers but XL shirts. XL boxers and boxer briefs are way too baggy and just get bunched up around my big glutes and hips causing my junk to get snagged and bound up in angles it's not supposed to be in. That's why you weat boxers isn't it? My boys are supposed to be free!!! I'm gonna hate the next time I go buy a suit cause I'll end up spending $50 on just the tailoring. Can someone tell me why they put such huge pants with a normal size jacket? Even when I was a fat ass I had to get my pants taken in a bunch on a new suit.

hey me too! before the 5x5 and anabolic diet there was a pair of pants that i just couldnt get on... that was a bummer because they were new, i had bought them without trying! but now they are too big! i have to use the belt to hold them up lol! it definetly shows the progress of fatloss around the gut! another thing is my medium tees, i used to fill them so that they were tight everywhere, but now only my arms and chest fill them! hell yeah! and i can get into a small tee as well! but my gut aint fitted for that just yet.....

Do you guys split your jeans in the crotch? It's always been a problem for me. I've never had a pair of jeans last more than 6 months.

It's probably caused by not pulling my pants up properly, not because of my *pulls out tape measure* 26 inch thighs.

The most annoying thing is finding jeans. I hate shopping for jeans--loose fit boot cut, low-rise, skinny. geez, lol. My waist is 31, but my thighs make the jeans feel tight in a 32 inch low-rise. same deal with boot-cut. I just get loose fit now because I don't have a choice. I think they look alright. Recently, I picked up a pair of Express Blake jeans--not bad jeans. I think they make me look a little bottom heavy even though they are 31 inch waist jeans, lol

As a fat ass I usually wore them out in the crotch. But that was from friction from my fat ass thighs.

But Hey! I'm down to being comfortable in 34's now! In fact, I'm in a bad way now for dress slacks and stuff for work. All my nice slacks are 38's and most are pleated (not really in style anymore) which makes them look extra baggy. I have two new pair of jeans and a pair of khaki's that fit right and that's it. I've been putting off buying new clothes cause we spent a small fortune at my house for Christmas but I may have to.

I use to wear Levi's 569 Loose fit but they are way too baggy now. I just moved to 559 relaxed fit. It's the right fit for me with enough room in the but, thighs, and legs without going too loose and still fits my waist right. I've always been a Levi's man. Never bought designer jeans. I don't think I could stomach $100 plus for jeans.

Dudes with big thighs should get something with a bit of taper in them. Or straight leg. Bootcut looks ridiculous, it'd make your Christmas hams look even bigger.
Wide leg openings are so 2005. LOL. I can't believe I said all that.

Trousers fit much better now than they used to, but are starting to get tight around my legs and ass.

Find it hard getting shirts that fit right. Those that fit in the arms, shoulders and back are really baggy around my mid-section. Now, this probably doesn't look too bad, but as I used to be a fat-ass and wore very baggy clothes to cover up, I'd like shirts to fit a bit better now. Then again, I refuse to spend a lot of money of money on clothes, excluding shoes, so I can't really complain.

i look fat in my school uniform because of my big ass and big thighs.

i get away with small shirts and size 32 jeans when outside. Those small shirts make me look musuclar.

What you need to look out for is shirts with darts in them. You can get them for cheap at the right places. That's for dress shirts.

I have a hard time to find clothes that fit my build.

Jeans/ pants
A short time ago when I switched from stronglifts to an intermediate program, none of my jeans were fitting anymore. Finding a pair of jeans that does fit is hard, sinds most of the jeans are tight around my upperleg, tight around my ass, but loose around the waste and the calves.

T-shirts
Tense around my chest, loose around my midsection and usually to long.
'
Colberts/blouse
Tight around my back, but loose around my shoulders and arms.

So I guess clothes are not made for me.
