I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

James! Congrats on the Mod status...and a really great week of lifting. The weight and reps on bench, squats and OHP are amazing. Had you already started upping your intake?

Again, what a great week. Congrats!

I like the 100 dips thing. I was heartbroken when the belt for hanging weights off at my gym was broken the other day but now I have a replacement goal. If they don't have a new one by wednesday I am going to try and smash out 100 bodyweight dips instead.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, they are appreciated.

Nov 2, Monday

Deads: 5*315, 3*365, 8*400.

Deficit deads: 5*8 @ 225

Leg lifts. Some.

I might have gotten one or two (maybe) reps out of deads but I was pretty much done. Relatively high reps at heavy weight are brutal. I chalked up but my hands were still beginning to hurt a bit from my old injury. They feel fine now though so I think the lighter weights working up to this week have helped.

8*400? Good lord  Nice lifting going on here.

I also have a question for you about your bodyweight exercises. I decided to adopt your certain-number-of-reps-per-workout method for pullups, but I need to ask you about progression. How do you know when it's time to up the reps? I figured it's something like when you can do it in 3 sets or something - is that correct?

That is correct. I don't really focus too much on BW exercises besides dips and pull ups. Dips I aim for sets of 10. When I can get to doing 5 sets of 10 I up the weight. Pull ups I simply do as many as I can for each set. Frankly I haven't been too worried about progressing much on these so I'm not really giving them too much attention.

You have some nerve to out pull me on the same day I'm pulling. Some nerve.

Relatively high reps at heavy weight are brutal.
This is more true for deadlifts than any other lift. Heavy deadlifts (anything more than 70% of your 1RM) for reps more than 5 are always much more taxing.

Great pulling BTW. Congrats.

You could always ipso facto just call your day a "technique day" or a "backoff day" or something like that, and then all is ok. ;)

Nice job as per usual, James!
