I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Good work James getting 350 up.

Are you doing anything for your shoulder or just restricting some exercises that aggravate it?

I'm simply restricting exercises that aggrevate it. Right now that's only pull ups and weighted dips. So I'll start doing chin ups instead.

I would say impressive squats and deadlifts but all your exercises are impressive. I've got one more week of my deadlift cycle and box squat cycle and then I'll see if they've made a difference. If yes then I'll probably do another if not maybe I'll try some thing else.

Thanks Bobu. They definitely don't feel impressive at all.

8/21 Sat

OHP: Worked to 5*185. Tried to get 215. It went halfway up and wouldn't move. I'm thinking my 1RM is 205 or so. That's what I'll test on next time.

Dips: 90 unweighted.

Hammer curls. 3*8 @ 45, 50, 55lbs

Calves. 15 reps on the leg press (using it as a calf raise station) then immediately followed by 30 jumps with 135lbs on my back (I use a barbell with a 45 on each side). These not only hit your calves but seem to be decent for cardio too.

15 minutes on the elliptical then some good stretching.

Damn! You're going to beat me to the 100 reps! Oh well. Youth is still on my side, buahahahaha :p

I admire your press, especially since I've only been able to hit a meager 135.

Nice workout. Are you noticing any growth in the calves yet? I feel blessed to have naturally decent calves so I don't really do a lot of work for them. My abs and back on the other hand....

I think it's too early to see any improvement on my calves. I'm hoping for something though...

8/23 Sunday

I'm a day ahead of schedule as I'm going on vacation starting Friday. In hindsight I probably should have done a Tues, Thurs, Sat split as I'm going to have access to a gym on Sat and Sun. I could tell I was fatigued.

Squats: Worked to 2*330. I just wasn't going to get those last three. 275 was pretty easy but my legs have not recovered from my maxes on Friday yet. I might go punish myself on Saturday just for that.

Bench: Worked to 5*275

BBR: Worked to 5*235

GHR's: 3*5 neg only. I'm definitely getting better at these. I did these at the gym downtown today and the only place I could find to do them was this crazy cable machine and I couldn't get comfortable on it.

Good Mornings. Looking for something a bit different and I really liked these and could feel them in my hams.

Stretching.

I walked home from the gym. Part of me was bummed about the squats but part of me realizes that I still had a pretty decent workout.

I tried those lat-pull down GHR, but I couldn't fit on the seat, it's too damn small. Is the one at your gym bigger, or did you put your legs really close together?

I put my knees together in order to fit on the seat. Not sure what impact that might have on the exercise good or bad.

8/24 Monday

Took a break today. My shoulder is still sore and pushing it like I did on Sat did nothing to help it out any. My hams are still a bit sore from the good mornings. Looks like I'll be keeping those in my new routine.

Did 20 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and then 5 minutes of Tabata on the bike. I followed that up with stretching.
