I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Looking good Barry. Like the xtra work "load/lift/unload/reset bar/reset bar" repeat  Workout "B" is a bear...good progress on the OHP. I need to go fractional on this lift too.

Great attitude! Keep it going, lots of success ahead.

So if you stall @ 75lbs again are you going down to 65lbs and then ratcheting up 1-2lbs at a time?

Congrats on the DL. That's getting up there, eh?

The OHP plan from here on is to add one pound per workout; no going back. If I can't get all 5 x 5, I will take whatever number of reps, make a note of it, and add one pound to the next workout.

Nice progress on the OHP and the Bench. Looks like the fractional plates are working well. I'm interested in watching how your OHP plan works out, continuing on with adding minimal weight when you don't quite get the 5x5. I'm not pressing right now but I have the same issue with the bench.

Keep up the good work.

Good luck on the overhead press. I hope you find something that works. I certainly haven't yet. It's like God said 110# is enough and even that 110# probably wasn't with good technique. I'm using good technique now but I don't know if I can still get 110#. I'll try next week.

Barry, you are sneaking up on that 75lb press!
Nice job on the bench PR too...2 reps is better than no reps.
And, btw, you are kicking my butt on the DL - 185lbs!! Excellent.

This is going to be an odd week.

My training partner, spotter, spouse and boss said we are taking this week off from the gym.

Forced rest. The end of a training cycle. The end of Phase One, then onto phase two. :D

So I will live vicariously through the friends I have made on this list, and offer encouragement for their efforts...my efforts will have to wait till next week.

PS: My training partner is down with a wounded paw. She has an ailment that her doctor said is only seen in people who use jackhammers or do a lot of Shoveling. Check out her log for details.

Time away from the gym can work wonders sometimes, next week you'll be refreshed and rested, that 125lb bench press won't stand a chance.

A week off is a good idea, some experts recommend a week off every 4 weeks. Every 8 weeks works good for me, any more often and I feel guilty. Even so it can be hard not to do something in the way of training during that week. Enjoy!

From one Barry to another...rest is well earned on the 5X5 program. I'm just taking the Labor Day weekend to go camping w/the wife! Have a good one and come back refreshed!

Tuesday Sept 8 | Workout ‘A’

Cycle 1 ended; start Cycle 2. :D

Bernice and I started StrongLifts 5x5 in April and took our first week long break last week. A weeks rest and no lifting except for body weight stuff.

Elite FTS emailed me about their big sale on gigantic rubber bands. I ordered a green one, a red one and a black one. With one knee in the green one, it offers enough oomph to allow me to do 5-7 real pull ups, wide grip; rubber band assisted. I can now do one neutral grip (palms facing) without any assistance, and that feels good! :D

Good job on the pull ups. I ordered a pair of green bands awhile ago thinking I could use on of them instead of weighted pushups. It was like I was stapled to the floor! I've been trying to figure out something to do with them and I think they might help with deadlifts. I've since ordered some light bands so maybe I'll be able to do pushups with them.

Did you mean 3x5 or 5x3? Just nosey :)
