I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

First Day Log - Workout A

Squat 115 lb 5/5/5/5/5

Bench Press 95 lb 5/5/5/5/5

I now know not to whine about never having lifted weights in my life before Barry.
I guess I should now quit being scared of the 'empty' bar which I presume isnt that empty after all.
Well, here goes for me too (as soon as i finish watching form videos and reading up) :)

Monday October 12 ; Workout ‘A’

Being sick with the flu is easy, being hurt is hard. ~Barry06GT

When you are sick, you can lay around the house and wait to get well. When you are hurt, it is hard to lay around the house and get well; you can’t really do anything, and you don’t know when you will (ever) get well. Being hurt is like a car with a flat tire.

I hurt my foot on Sunday September 27, and could not hold up my own body weight, or walk without a pronounced limp, never mind putting a heavy barbell on my back.

After a week of limping, and forced rest, I got back to the House of Pain.

SQ
45 1x5
95 1x5
115 3x5
95 1x5
Easing back into it, testing the stability of foot and ankle.

OHP
45 1x10
70 1x5
75 1x5
70 3x5
Not bad, can get back to where I was.

DL
135 1x5
185 1x4
Just to appease the Gods of the deadlift. On track for 200 pounds by month’s end.

Pull Ups
This I did all week even with hurt foot. Wrapped the rubber band around hurt leg and pulled with all my might.

Prone Bridges 3x30 sec.

Wow Barry, glad your foot is getting better. How did you hurt it? X didn't run it over w/her 'Stang did she

Nice DL's! You are moving right along on those.

How do you like the band assisted pullups? I JUST got my bands and used the giant one to pop out 10 neutral grip pull ups!!!! It was actually fun to be able to do it. Now, I really have not excuse not to do them!

But that's the House of Pain we like to visit!

Nice progress on the Deads Barry. Hope the foot continues to feel better.

The squat is first.

First with empty bar...will my legs hold out?

While squatting I was concentration on my ankles and foot, forgot about hip drive, forgot to look down, that is why I only did 115 pounds!

I know about the injuries and easing back in. Take it slow, listen to your body and all will be fine. DL looks good, just a few workouts until 200!

Foot/ankle was 100% last week.

Have not been posting because of incomplete workouts, coming to grips with the blasted bent over row, three sets of five that are forbidden on this site, and even the odd set of curls performed on the deadlift platform.

Bernice, I mean "X" and I have been having more fun than just seriously working out.

Skipped the gym Wednesday because, well on the way to the gym, we could not figure out why we wanted to skip the gym, so we just did. Went home and drove the gray cat crazy with the laser. :D

We will re-motivate soon, or one of us will get more serious that the other and get the other in line, most likely "X" she has a much better work ethic.

Forgot...

I set a new DL PR on Monday.

190 for 1 set of 5, but my note book confirmed that I have done that before just never posted it.

Nice...you two have been goofing off!
Great job on the DL PR!! That's a lot of weight to hoist off the floor. Now get your backside to the gym!
