I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

underhand grip? interesting....so what would you suggest... maybe 1 workout normal grip & then the next reverse it? i would conisder that.
also, pushups...1st set was 18 on last workout....am i right that the advice would now be to add weight & go to 3x5? i think maybe the best idea though is dips as i can only manage about 8 on 1st set right now. so maybe i should focus on getting 1st set up to 15 & then buy a dip belt and add weight & go to 3x5. have i got that right as per the program rules?

Dips is easy, most gyms have belts for hanging weights off. Push ups... well weights in rucksacks balanced somewhere on your back just never seems right to me.

To me the dips compliment bench press for the chest/tri's in just the same way chins compliment bb rows for the back/biceps. Emphasis shifts slightly from chest to tri's in dips but works both, definately more arm in chins but back still getting major work too. Barbell in motion vs body in motion covered too. Just seems like a nice symmetry to me.

Just thought I would say something about adding weights to push-ups - you can use bands, which is what I do now and find very helpful. Works very well.

I haven't tried this myself, but I saw someone the other day doing push-ups in the smith machine -- bar across his back. Seemed like a good use of that much-maligned piece of equipment.

About pushups vs dips.BBrows vs inv.rows.Why not alternate between those.Monday pushups.Friday dips, and so on.I´ve done like that and it is not that boring like doing the exact same workout all the time.
