I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

6/4/09

Squats 145 5x5 (was pretty difficult because of the soreness, but i managed to make it through)
Overhead Press 85 ( i got 4x5 and i couldn't finish the very last one on the fifth set, will try again next cycle)
Deadlift 1x5 115lbs (not a problem still fairly easy but heavy enough for a good exercise)
Chin Ups 3x11/9/7 (managed to get more in than usual on the 2nd and 3rd set)
Prone Bridges 3x30sec (def getting harder with heavier weight)

6/6/09

Squats 150 lbs 5x5 (without the soreness i was able to do 150 which is a little more than my body weight. i had to push pretty hard to finish the 5x5, i can definitely see not making the next 5lb increase)
Bench 115 5x5 (this actually felt easier than last time, maybe it was just the long break or pushups but it felt easier than 110)
Inverted Rows 3x13/8/6 (can't remember last set but im almost sure it was 6, definitely feel like im getting stronger at these, didnt struggle as much on the ones after 10)
Push ups 3x33/21/15 (Couldn't get 35, can't seem to do it consistently yet, i think the bench weight is affecting me, hopefully i can find some consistency)
Reverse Crunches 3x12

6/9/09

Squats 155 5x5 (Felt good today, managed to get these done but barely, wore my chuck taylor's for stability and definitely felt a lot better)
Overhead Press 85lbs 5x5 (Last time i failed the very last rep on the last set, this time i barely managed to get it up, i'm almost certain i won't be able to get 5x5 on the next one)
Deadlift 120lbs 1x5 (heavy enough to get a workout but still fairly easy, i really can't wait for heavier weight this exercise is so fun)
Pull ups 3x7/5/4 (man these are still killer, my elbow hurt for whatever reason today, will try and push it to 8 next time, )
Prone Bridges 3x30 (wooo shaking a lot on the last set, still a great exercise after a full workout)

WOOT gained another pound this last week and moved to 148, after dropping down to 142 I have been consistently moving up.

Squats 160lbs 5x5 (keep surprising myself at the amount of weight i've been able to do, this was certainly very difficult but was able to pull through 5x5)
Bench Press 120lbs 5x5 (made it through but was harder than I though it was, looking forward to next 10 pounds to see if i can do it)
Inverted Rows 3x12/8/6(still hard but i think i've gotten more energy on the second set, bench is getting me more fatigued though of course)
Push ups 3x37/24/17 (really pushed it hard on the first set, had a burst of energy at the end and managed to push a few extra out, i think if i can get 35 next one again i should go buy a resistance band)
Reverse Crunch 3x12 (increasingly difficult but still awesome)

6/13

squats 165lbs 5x5 (woo managed to get this up, 170 will be interesting.....)
Overhead Press 90lbs 1x5 (wasn't able to do this, 2nd set was terrible form and didn't think it would be safe to do the next set, will try again)
Deadlift 125lbs 1x5 (no problems yet)
Chin Ups 3x11/9/7 (still hard, hoping i can push it past 12 one day, maybe 10 on 2nd set)
Prone Bridges 3x12

6/16

Squats 170lbs 5x5 (Actually got this weight up but was very slow getting it up on the last set, I hadn't had much tightness or slight pain in a while until today, this weight kind of kicked my ass, might stall out next weight)
Bench Press 125lbs 5x5 (Definitely not easy, but I did managed to get it up, didn't struggle so much on the last set, I expect next 5 pound increase to push me quite a bit the last two or so sets.)
Inverted Rows 3x12/9/7 (Seems with the heavier weights on bench this has stayed the same, though i have in consistency improved)
Push ups 3x35/23/15 (wow these were brutal today, the first two pushups on the last set were two of the hardest)
Reverse Crunch 3x12 (ah yes i felt the burn for sure)

Squats 175lbs (shit this was really difficult, i'm not sure if it's the weight or what but thigh getting really tight, slight pain like on 170. might not make it at 180)
Overhead Press 90lbs (2nd attempt at 90lbs, i was able to almost get 4 sets complete, but couldn't get the last one on the 4th set)
Deadlift 130lbs 1x5 (still doable, definitely a workout though after doing squats)
Pull Ups 3x9/6/4 (was very surprised i managed to get 9 in the first set)
Prone Bridges 3x30sec

okay been lazy and haven't updated
didnt workout on previous saturday

6/23

Squats 180lbs 5x5 (made it through though it was very difficult)
Bench Press 130 5x5 (got it done last two sets were quite tiring)
Inverted Rows 3x11/9/7 (think this is what I did, don't remember)
Push Ups 3x ~38/25/15
Reverse Crunch 3x12

6/25

Squats 185lbs 5x5 (was kind of doubting if I could do this weight, but I managed to get it)
Overhead Press 90lbs 5x5 (3rd attempt and managed to get it, however my shoulder has been bothering me, sort of in my lat area, it hurts quite a bit after i put the squat bar on the rack and after i finish overhead, like a quick sharp pain)
Deadlift 130lbs 1x5 (felt quite heavy, was a good workout)
Chin Ups 3x10/8/6 (Kind of disappointed in how many i did, i dont know if it was the shoulder or not but hopefully can do a few more next time on the first set)
Prone Bridges 3x30sec

6/27

Squats 190lbs 5x5 (holy balls, this was hard, barely managed to get through 5x5, the last 2-3 sets were tough and thought I might have to set it down, i think next week i might go the 3x5 route to rest a bit, and hopefully my lat pain will go away, hurt quite a bit today after releasing pressure of the bar off my shoulders)
Bench Press 135lbs 5x5 (felt very good doing bench, was very happy and i know i've gottten stronger doing 135lbs 5x5 because I don't really remember ever being able to workout with 45's on the bar very much in high school, i'm probably at the strongest i've been in quite sometime, and cant wait for next few weeks/months)
Inverted Rows 3x14/7/7 (awesome first set, felt good and good form, started the 2nd set way too fast and was trying to hurry)
Push ups 3x37/23/15 (i'm averaging around 35 fairly easy now each time, sometimes getting 40 plus or minus a few, might buy a resistance band)
Reverse Crunches 3x12

weight on tuesday was about 149, still gaining weight slowly but surely

7/7
took a week off to see if my shoulder would feel better, legs/shoulder both felt really good, only had a little pain, but very minuscule on this Tuesday

Squats 195lbs 5x5 (thought i was going to have a harder time, it was very difficult but legs felt fresh and felt really good so I was able to get through)
Bench 140lbs 5x5 (very impressed with my progress on bench, thought this was going to feel heavier but managed to get 5x5 done, I expect it to be much more difficult next round though)
Inverted Rows 3x11/8/7 (hm little disappointed here, can't seem to make any real gains, this exercise is just really hard lol, will have to try and really push it)
Push Ups 3x33/21/15 (focusing more on form as it might have been related to my shoulder, more difficult now after focusing on my form)
Reverse Crunches 3x12

woot had gained another pound, up to 150 now, so thats 8 pound increase in almost 2 1/2 months, i think if i drink slightly more milk it will help a lot to get to 160lbs

7/9

Squats 200lbs 3x5 (okay legs felt sore and tight today, also screwed up on the sets, did like 3x3=9, then 1x1 after realizing i screwed up,then did 5 on the last set which I was surprised I was able to do to make it 15 reps) also shoulder pain returned almost to the amount it had before I took my 1 week break.
Overhead Press 95lbs 5x5/5/5/4/5 (for some reason I only got 4 on the 4th set, maybe I didn't do it fast enough or breathe right, but also shoulder was hurting again, anyway was surprised I was able to do this weight as well as I did)
Deadlift 1x5 135lbs (feels good doing heavier weight, was able to get it fairly well without any problems.)
Chin Ups 3x12/7/6 (chin up felt okay today, did about the usual amount)
Prone Bridges 3x30secs (these are still hard enough -_-)

7/11

Squats 205lbs 3x5 (this was really heavy and i had some trouble but as able to make it, i am very skeptical at doing 210lbs. also shoulder pain returned quite significantly and felt it further into my collar bone, actually bothered me the rest of the day.)
Bench Press 145lbs 5x5 (i was surprised i could do this 5x5, i thought i was going to stall, though the last set was hard and i was able to barely push it through, definitely satisfied at the strength progress i have made, might be at the strongest i've ever been)
Inverted Rows 3x12/9/7 (still hard as hell, not much else to say)
Push Ups 3x30/21/15 (not sure what it was today, but i felt really tired, maybe it was mental but definitely didn't feel as great doing pushups)
Reverse Crunches 3x12 (still feeling quite the burn especially on last set)

7/14

Squats 210lbs 3x5 (glad i had a few days to rest before this, last set or two was pretty slow coming up, very difficult for me, and damn shoulder still bothering me)
Overhead Press 95lbs 5x5 (failed last time but got it this time, was still difficult and managed to get the last reps of the last two sets up which were the most difficult, should hurting after this too)
Deadlift 140lbs 1x5 (pretty heavy, though i think i can still do a few more weight increases before having a lot of trouble...i think)
Pull Ups 3x10/7/4 (well the most pull ups i've done so far, shoulder doesn't bother me doing this, only after releasing squats and overhead..strange)
Prone Bridges 3x30secs

very excited today, not sure if the scale has been off but i made sure it was right today, or if i just ate better but i'm up to about 153.5 pounds, so thats about an 11.5lb increase in 2 1/2 almost 3 months, im very happy.

7/16

Squats , just did bar squats, i think i strained my groin (also worried it was a hernia) when i stood up on one leg after tuesdays workout, letting it rest and hope it feels better by tuesday
Bench Press 150lbs 5x4/3/3/3/3 (okay hit a wall on bench finally, man felt really heavy, looking forward to getting a few more next time, also shoulder actually hurt from bench this time, other workouts only after squats and overhead)
Inverted Rows 3x13/8/7 (still trying to get 15 on the first set with good form, thats my new goal)
Push ups 3x30/23/15 (damn felt tired today, i knew i wasn't going to get many)
Reverse Crunches 3x12

Nice work so far Bert. Have you asked the gym to get some smaller weights? It'll be hard to progress for long making 10 lb jumps each time. Also, since you are an inch taller than me, and significantly lighter, I'd suggest taking a look at GOMAD, if you aren't lactose intolerant. There are a lot of articles in the archive section on it. You're a good candidate for it. Either way, good luck.

hi LTL, i think you meant 5lbs each time but yeah i am starting to hit that wall where its getting really heavy for me, the smallest weights they have are 2 1/2 lbs, maybe i can take some washers or something to increase less than 5lbs, probably a good idea. i took a look at GOMAD and i don't think i could handle it, financially and my stomach doesn't like milk that much either, however, i have been trying to drink more milk in general, definitely more than i am used to, so maybe i won't be doing GOMAD but certainly up my intake, i'm going to try and gain at least 10 more pounds in the next two months, hopefully quicker if i can keep up my milk intake, thanks for the comment, also i love your RD quote in your sig.

Sorry, I saw the first post where you said "added 10 lbs weight (no 2.5 weights)." Five pound increases are the norm. Do you have a target body weight you'd like to eventually hit?

Oh, and thanks, it is a pretty good quote, isn't it? I found a bunch of them here.

I think i'd like to hit 165, maybe more if i'm not satisfied, but 165 is definitely my target weight at the moment. oh yeah i remember i didn't find the 2.5 lb weights when i started lifting at the university rec center, there are only a few sets of 2.5lbs so everytime i have to look for them. thanks for the quote site, really good ones there i haven't seen.
