I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I guess all those workouts which you used to do when you were young have still kept your legs quite strong!
I guess all the pain and frustrations will keep me company till i reach 2xBW...once that happens i guess it's relatively easy...or is it? Ah i'm just makin wild guesses!

The fact that you took to lifting after so long and yet your legs were capable of handling the heavy load definitly indicates to me that once you hit 2xBW it stays with you!

How's the knee now? Nothing serious i hope?

Doctor appointment tomorrow. It's the earliest one I could get.

Knee better. Walking is fine. But strength is lacking when flexed.

Actually, my squat was bollocks when I started retraining end of last year. Sub-200lbs for moderate reps. It shot up quickly though - I got a 70lbs increase in just 3 weeks (6 sessions). Lifting is as much about skill as it is strength esp. when you start out. FYI my strongest lift is actually the deadlift. I got to lift a couple of reps of 330lbs with very little retraining (I stopped DL after that and just worked the squat and practised my movement efficiency). In fact the first time I tried repping the DL I was already pulling 265lbs.

Knee diagnosis is not bad. Apparently, I have a minor ligament injury and muscle sprains. Not sure if I trust the diagnosis, but I'll see how it goes for the next 2 weeks. I'm allowed to do easy exercise in the mean time.

Did some GPP today. Squats, sets of 10-15, 135lbs. Bench, sets of 10-15 115lbs. Lots of dynamic stretching.

I think it (she) was chasing a squirrel and wasn't watching where it (she) was going. Quite a small Rottweiler (40kg), but quick for the breed. Right into my legs.

More GPP training on Friday. Multiple sets of 10-15 135lbs squats, some paused rep, slow rep sets as well. Upped the intensity on the Bench, multiple sets of 8-10 135lbs. Knee is still just as stiff, but the knee feels more secure (that's the only way I can describe it) when flexed to the 90 degree angle. Frankly, it is pissing me off that things aren't back to normal by now. It's been 3 frigging weeks.

Went to the shops for the first time on a weekend in almost 2 years. I was looking for jeans to replace a pair I've had for longer than I can remember - for smart casual.

WTf - is it me or are all jeans now ridiculously slim? I'm thin so I find this ridiculous. My waist is 28 and a 28 (waist) size is comfortable (i.e. can eat and have room to expand), but with some of the pairs of jeans I could barely pull the jean legs up and do up the fly. Size 30 jeans is a far better, still hugging fit for my butt and upper thigh, but then it looks like I have room to fit my fist down my pants. For comfort (i.e. what I'd wear to a Thanksgiving turkey eating competition), I'd need to buy a 32' size and that looks stupid. Is this a (relatively) recent fashion trend? Maybe, I should going into the town centre and find the nearest Levi's shop - I trust they haven't changed their stuff much.

Well i think the design of jeans has definitely changed a bit.....the jeans i wear are tight in the upper thigh region..while wearing the same sized(waist size) jeans of my dad's era are a lot more comfortable....

Knee is still a problem. Ligament damage (and hopefully nothing else). I have changed things a bit in the gym and I am doing ATG back squats now with a high bar and narrow foot stance. Yes, nothing like the squat form advocated for SL followers. I also know that the stress is greater on the knee joint, but I am using baby weights (135lbs,185lbs) for now and doing sets of 10+ reps just to get blood swishing around the legs. Full ROM I feel is key.

Did more ATG squats today 135lbs, 155lbs and 185lbs and then back down again for 10-12 reps each set. All high bar olympic style again. I narrowed my stance more towards the end with heels less than shoulder width apart, but toes angled outwards naturally. This allowed me to be almost completely upright and I couldn't really feel tension in my hams after breaking parallel. I thought I did but I think I'm just feeling it in my glutes when I push out of the bottom.
