I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

big tonys traing log

Postby bigtony on Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:16 pm

age: 20
body weight: 74 kgs
height: 180 cm

ive always practiced all my sets as a 3x10 and got some results but am really interested in giving the
strong lifts 5×5 Strength Training Program a go, i used to spend hours at gym doing about 5 - 7
exercises per muscle group to really push hard.
even though i love time at gym i like the idea of half hour at gym and see if proves results
well i guess well see soon.
as of tomorrow first workout on this program

Goal:
body weight 80 kg's
(not sure how long i should set as a time limit on this. . . . ill give it 2 months n see if i estimated right)

Welcome to stronglifts Big Tony. Just remember that 3 x 10 would be considered "bodybuilding" whereas 5 x 5 is used specifically to gain strength not size, so any weight gain will probably come slower. Wish you all the best in your goals. :D

notes to self:

Don't worry about the press big tony, seems to be the exercise most people struggle with, just keep at it and it will come. Remember to squeeze your abs, glutes as you lift, it will help.

Way to power through the pain. Sometimes getting to the gym is harder than the actual lifting. Nice work!

today i stated my workout at 8am
i accedently did 70 kg's on the squats as i put 2 5kg weights, not 2 2.5's
i only relaised after the second set so i did all 5 sets of this.

proper warm up
(increased weight till at my aorking weight),
shoulder dislocations,
glute activation

friday
25/07/2008

SQUAT
5x5

70kg's

Overhead press
5x5

32.5 kg's

Deadlift
2x5

65 kg's

pull-ups:
1x2
1x1

lat pull downs:
1x8
50 kg's

1x6
55 kg's

1x3
73 kg's

Today i asked a trainer at the gym about my dead lifting form and my back dips in wards proving low core strength which i will work on
also i am to drop my dead lifting weight by half
till my back stays straight... im happy with my squats but is it possible my back may be ok for this exercise.
i just don't want to injure myself

Also with my squats considering i did my squats at 70 kg's n below parallel shall i continue at this weight or go to 65kg's what i am meant to do next work out????
