It says in the clip From the makers of: and it lists 2 of his movies, unless they mean the production company.

They just mean the production company. The egotistical fatass would be all over the poster and trailer if it was one of his documentaries.

It looks interesting, and I'll probably check it out on DVD.

I thought it was michael moore narrating?

I watched a documentary on that guy with the huge arms at the start. So disgusting, hes only got one big arm now the other is deformed (even more so) from an infection. Serves him right.

I think the narrator was some weightlifter (The one who's brothers are on steroids maybe?).

Well I just finished watching it 5 minutes ago. Very good movie that should be seen by anybody into training at all.

There's a lot of powerlifting related stuff in there as well, included an interview with Louie Simmons.

I watched this movie a few days ago. I "acquired" it from a certain pirate-themed website. Highly recommended. It gives an interesting new perspective on roids, the ethics of performance enhancement, the importance of role models and heroes etc.

For all the supplement slurpers out there, pay attention to the movie at around 1hr 10min mark. This is where the narrator discusses the totally unregulated supplement industry, and whips up a perfectly legal batch of pills... on his kitchen table, with the help of a couple of illegal immigrants, made with only a token amount of active ingredient, whatever it was.

I watched Bigger Stronger Faster right before Power Unlimited, about the sport of powe rlifting. Mark Bell, the narrator's brother, features in both. In Bigger Faster Stronger he is frank about his roid use. Power Unlimited has no mention whatsoever about roids, which I found disappointing. Now the place of roids in power lifting is another very sticky debate, but I found some of the talk of sportsmanship a little hollow knowing that some of the lifters are on roids.

the totally unregulated supplement industry

Anyone doubting this statement go into your local GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and check out some of the labels on both powders and pills. You will see a lot of crosses, X's, and check marks next to the ingredients they even bothered listing (probably to impress you with big names) because there is no regulation of these ingredients by the FDA.

Anyone know if you can still order "Power Unlimited the Movie"? I looked at the website and it looks, by the condition of their forums to be rather a dodgy proposition. I'd like to see it, but I cant say I trust the website :\ (It looks like a nice website, but a forum full of spam bots kinda makes me wonder if anyone is still driving the car if ya know what I mean) http://www.powerunlimitedthemovie.com/

I'll email and see if I get a reply.

I too watched Bigger, Stronger, Faster this week-end. It provides a really interesting look at some of the "other" arguments regarding 'roids.

The part MJH was talking about, where they make completely legal supplements at the kitchen table, was great. In the same segment, there's also a quote after Chris Bell asks a guy about a liquid sitting in a beaker and he replies that it's a new formula with about half the stuff removed because it's not legal in Canada. It's another part of the flick that I think really gets to the whole "god only knows what's in here" aspect of the supplement industry.

There's some really interesting segments, actually. I think Chris could have portrayed his own failability a bit better. He really gets into his brothers' struggles and dependencies and really, goes pretty in depth with them, leaving himself relatively unscathed. It didn't necessarily make me like the movie less, but I think it would have added another, really interesting dimension to it.

If I have to TA Sport and Ethics again this year, I think I'll either show a segment of this or point my students in its direction...anything other than the perspective of "drugs are bad and kill sport" tends to be a really hard sell to even get them to talk about.

I'd never heard of Power Unlimited...I'll have to try and find a copy of that.
