I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

That's horrible news. There's nothing quite like that unconditional bond between dog and master. Here's hoping for the best.

My condolences. I understand the bond and how that stuff can just break your heart. We just had to put down our female Dane and it's never easy to do.

Thanks Guys.

James - Danes are terrific dogs. We've known some great ones. Sorry to hear about your loss too.

Squats plus BW exercises. Decided to finished the RSR early, so I can devote more time to my dog. I did my 2x2 and went straight to my single 120kg. Link here (wait for upload though):

Depth was approx parallel rather than below. Overall, happy with the progress and general conditioning of RSR.

BW lower due to lack of sleep and a bit of under-eating recently. Must try to eat normally.

Congrats on achieving the goal ahead of schedule. With your weight drop, this is quite near to 2xBW.

Nice work on the RSR. You've got a pretty solid foundation to build on now. We'll be tuned in to see what's next.

Thanks guys.

To be honest, I'm not sure what is next. My knee is in very good condition now - I'd say about 90%.I was planning on doing power + strength maintenance block for the legs, and do volume sub-max work for upper body. But my heads not 100% in the iron game lately. At the moment, I would prefer to spend time with my dog, feeding him (his appetite is on and off), joining him outside in the garden, surfing the net/watching tv with him beside me. Anyway, I also think I need a deload week or so after RSR, so this fits in nicely. I'll revisit my training after a week.

Brilliant work on achieveing goal ahead of time - I'd say you deserve the rest!!! Just make sure the dog doesn't have another go at your knee ;) I'll be interested in seeing what comes next...

Wrote this on 1 June 09:

Bluegreyhound wrote:I'm going to be bullish about my goals progressing this year, and write it here.

By Dec 09 I shall equal my best lifts 1-2 years ago:
Squat 140kg, Deadlift 150kg

Mid-goal, by Sept 09:
Squat 120kg, Deadlift 130kg

Accomplished mid goals in July 09:

Olympic squat 120kg BW 64.5kg
Deadlift 140kg BW 65kg

I think that my low bar squat is about 10kg higher than my Olympic squat, so I'm already very close to my year end goals. Deadlift of 150kg should be a piece of piss once I start training the Deadlift properly. I've decided to take a brief break - naturally, my numbers will regress a little but I'm fine with that. My long term goal would be to re-establish PRs of 160kg in both Squat and Deadlift. I'm under no illusion that this is going to be tough for me since it wasn't exactly easy the 1st time. I have some modest upper body lift goals but I'll post those later when I have an idea of what I'm going to do.

160kg squat and DL with 65kg BW would be monumental. I'm looking forward to reading this...

Unlikely to be at BW=65kg. I was BW approx 73kg when I last did those lifts.

Hey BGH wow you've progressed magnificiently while i was away. Sorry to hear about your dog. Is it really that bad? I haven't had an experience with pets, but i know i felt very very sad when our neighbourhood cats(both ma and pa) passed away . They produced so many generations!

Your weights are still a blur on my radar...lol...it will still take me time to to get sprinter-specific strong!
(i mean my radar cannot yet detect those weights for me  )

I feel sorry for your dog. I don't have much experience with pets, but I witnessed some sweet birds and my cute little hamster fade away. It becomes so normal to have them around but when they die, something is empty all of a sudden. I'm looking forward to see you recover and go at it again with new found energy.
