I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Thank you all for the supporting my goal. Next step is figuring out how I'll get there. I'm about to leave on vacation for two weeks so I'll be thinking about it, doing my research.

On my vacation, I'm meeting up with my customer that is a powerlifter. We're going to have a training session and will I'll have a good, long talk with him. He's already told me that he will come, from Australia to NZ, to support me when I compete. What a great guy!

In addition, I've been talking to a mate (MMA fighter) that I haven't seen since I started lifting. He's done some powerlifting and knows some of top powerlifters in NZ. He's going to introduce me, get me to train with them.

At my gym, the personal trainers are all very willing to help me out, including the big guy that is a powerlifter.

I'm just giddy with excitement.

What I've discovered already is that, once the big guys find out what you're doing AND you demonstrate that you're at all serious about what you're doing, they are very welcoming, helpful and encouraging. It's like joining a club.

See you all in a two weeks.

Surrounding yourself with successful people will make you progress like crazy, you're doing a great thing having a goal, I can't wait to read about your journey towards competition. I bet that after the weight gain thing, you'll be an example to many also on this.
Enjoy your vacation and see you here!

That does sound pretty cool. I recently had a similar encounter. The manager at the gym i am currently lifting at does strongman and a lot of powerlifting. He is really accomodating with me. When I don't go, I feel like I am letting him down. As a aresult, I go.

When I started at the gym I couldn't bench the bar, squat a 10 kg bag on my back, etc. Working with Mehdi was fantastic - huge gains in a short period of time all round.

sorry but if thats true then thats a super motivation for me but i doubt its true...

To be honest mate, sounds like you want to believe that I'm lying in order to prove to yourself that you can't do it.

It's all true.
