I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Awesome. I'll be eating a high carb, high protien and mid-fat diet then and keep up the Stronglifts 5x5 which is currently my second week of training!! Its awesome. (Except I got a horrible pain in my clavicle area when doing pull-ups?!)... but yeh its really good :) apart from that lol.

Thank you, one forum that has provided detailed replies and not flamed for having a different view (due to being n00bie) lol. Thanks.
Thanks,
JB123.

I have lost over 50 pounds since my fattest days. It was always "high carb" by the standards of this thread- 50% or more of calories from carbs. Hell, my _current_ diet is like that. The thing is, fruits and veggies and legumes are loaded with carbs. And, oh yeah, so is oatmeal. In all fairness, the diet changes were largely "reduce the carbs", if only because that was what I was eating the most. (For example, switching from two bowls of processed cereal at 7am and a pastry snack at 10:30am to a simple bowl of oatmeal at 7am). But even after reducing the breads and cereals and desserts, the majority of calories still came from carbs. The thing is, fruit is loaded with fructose and some important vegetables (carrots, potatoes, corn, and beans) have lots of carbs too.

Now, there was a fair bit of cardio, but never enormous (swimming three times a week, stuff like that). I will admit that it was a gradual process over months, with never losing more than one pound in one week. However, the toughest weeks were the first couple, when I had some tummy rumblings and cravings and all that.

FWIW, I have a body fat percentage of about 14%. Maybe it is impossible to get down to 5% or less with "high carbs". but I wouldn't know about that.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Second day of being on a 2K Calorie diet and I am so bloated its unreal... some of you are probably thinking.. what?! Yeh thats right 2,000 calories left me so full yesterday I felt and looked pregnant I had a lot of regret actually, despite eating clean foods however I'm putting my trust into you guys and this forum and hopefully i'll start to see some results soon. :).

Steelcutoats; Good loss, well done. As for cardio i'm doing cycling so hopefully i'll be able to mirror your sucess. I've calculated I have total of 40lb/s body fat - my long term goal is like 12% not too bothered about abs but would be nice but the overall lower body fat percentage would be the biggest factor for me. Never been a low bf%!
Thanks,
JB123.

Good man, 1200 is too low, you won't lose weight in the way you want, body will just get rid of your muscle to lower maintanence caloric needs.

Bloated at 2k? Well you'll get used to that, i've eaten around 4k for the last 4 months and if anything i have less body fat now, (not that i was fat before, had small love handles though).

That feeling of soreness you get the day after working out is your body telling you to sit besides the fridge all day. :P
