I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Cardio and 5x5

Postby reckoner on Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:07 pm

Hey
I'm 6'2 190 right now, trying to work my way up to 200-205. Is it a good idea to fill my off days (Tues-Thurs) with cardio? Or will it affect my gains too much? I am doing a half assed GOMAD approach by drinking just over half a gallon of milk a day and I have noticed I am building some fat around my stomach.
Thanks

I have the same question. Also will walking for an hour+ do as much as 30 min at 80%HR?
I have unlimited time for workouts and cardio so that's not a factor right now.

whats you reason for wanting to include cardio? Is tabata or hiit training more appropriate.

Sounds like you're trying to cut and bulk at the same time, will be tough to recuperate from cardio AND heavy squat 75 times per week. Focus on lifts, eat clean and accept that you have to carry a little weight to grow sometimes. Save that cutting stuff for summer.
