change in workout plan??

Postby Rocky89 on Tue Nov 18, 2008 5:38 pm

Hi,
first of all I'm new to this forum, but enjoying stronglifts for some months now. I am 19 and live in Germany. So...
One day, while deadlifting, I hurt my right adductor due to the fact, that I had 5kg more on one side by mistake. I kept going to the gym.
My squat then was about bw(65kg). Because of the pain it was hard to squeeze my glutes, so I tried to work on form and found Rippetoe's video on hip drive, in which this boy is still leaning forward.
I imitated his form until I reached 85kg. Also the people and the trainers suggested to stall and to work on technique again, because I was leaning forward too much. So did I.
I went down with the weight and worked myself up to 90 kg (just reached yesterday).
The thing is, that I still feel pain, not only in the adductor, but also in my back and my right knee. I was too motivated and excited to stop, so I endured it somehow. My goal is to reach 100 kg at the end of this year.
I have also problems with the deadlift, because I can't generate enough hip drive.
However the fitness trainer told me to stop using free weights for some weeks. He told me to use the machines to relax actively and then return again to the free weights. This is depressing me, cause I really like StrongLifts5x5. Just one week ago I learned how to power clean and now to think about doing hyperextensions on the machine is not half as fun.

What do you recommend?

(Sry if my english isn't good)

Yeah, paragraphs are your friend, especially if English isn't your first language.

I might advise someone to tough it out if they're only feeling pain in one area, but you've got knee pain, adductor pain, and back pain, which leads me to believe you have poor form. You should post a video of you squatting so we can take a look at it, and in the meantime drop the weight down. 100kg is a completely arbitrary number, you're much better off fixing injuries you have and attacking the weight in the new year, instead of messing yourself up delaying your progress.

thanks for the advice, Rugger.

Well, it has been some weeks since then. I have decreased the weight and have worked on technique. I did also some Front Squats.
You're right, I should post a video and be a little more patient.

Btw: is my english that bad, so that noone post a reply  ? ^^

No, your english is actually pretty good, it's just that your first post kind of rambles and doesn't ask a clearly defined question, it just sort of slipped through the cracks I guess.

So I've posted the video in here
( if that's a problem I can also post it in the weight lifting forum)

Please, don't turn the volume too much on, cause the guy in the background is doing some cable rows, which sounds inconvenient.

have it only from the side angle
tried to squat between the legs, kness stayed out

You've got the video set to private, I can't view it.
