I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hey Mehdi,

I have seen similar studies as the one you refer to, showing no relationship btw. egg intake and blood colesterol.

I am personally a big consumer of eggs. I simply love them. Another thing I love is red meat, mince +++. I usually eat 3 meals a day containing either egg or meat. Therefore one could maybe expect my blood cholesterol beeing high (Ive had the same bullshit from friends; youre unhealthy man!). Well, since my mom is a doctor I told her to check up on me. I took a total of 9 blood samples, piss sample, ekg, x-ray of lounges, MRI etc. Turns out Im as healthy as I can be, furthermore, my blood cholesterol was actually outside the reference zone, on the lower end of the scale!! Since the deviation from the reference zone were less than 10% this wasnt really a concern, but my mom said it was the lowest cholesterol she has observed in a patient.

I now do regular blood samples twice a year to check things like iron-levels, cholesterol and shitloads of other stuff. And my cholesterol stays low!

And a warning to you guys taking supplements; I took the AST32x and Animal Pak vitamins a couple of years ago, and it pushed my iron levels way outside the reference zone, which is not healthy at all. Furthermore, took shitloads of BSN Cellmass/NO-X etc. and it was most likely the reason for my bilirubin levels being way to low. Note that this can lead to tiredness and totally fucks you up if youre either on drugs, drink excessive alcohol, or a low-calorie diet. When I stopped taking the supplements my bilurubin levels went back to normal. Note that this is a sample size of 1, and might not apply to you, but you should be careful with the hardcore multivitamins and inzane creatine/NO mixes. Simple creatine monohydrate and a mulitvitamin that only has 100% of daily values seems to work fine for me. If youre unsure, have youre GP check stuff like bilurubin, iron and other vitamins/minerals that build up in the body.

Hope this can help you guys!

Sharing 2 mails I got:

reader wrote:I see you recommend Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. I have been considering buying this book, but I am skeptical. How can I know that this book actually is based on solid scientific work? His theories are in contradiction to the public recommendations in Norway, and probably in most/all Western countries. Do you have any comments? Or better, any independent, reputable sources that have reviewed the book?

My Answer:
Mehdi wrote:I understand you're skeptical because the book goes against the public recommendations in Norway and the rest of Western countries. My question to you is: are you skeptical enough to question the public recommendations in Norway & other western countries?

There are people I trust which recommend the China Study. And there are people I trust who recommend Western Price. I agree it can be confusing. But I'm not here to tell you who you should believe or what to do. This is your decision.

2nd one:
reader wrote:If you are basing your nutritional advice on a 60 year old theory of a dentist who did no studies on heart disease, then I am no longer interested in your advice.

I assume that was in regard to Weston A. Price. I didn't answer that.
