I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Cottage cheese + tuna

Postby maroon on Sun Jun 21, 2009 8:39 pm

So... This idea just hit me. Anyone tried it?

I'm giving it a go tonight for my pre-bedtime snack. 1 x can of tuna emptied into tub of cottage cheese. Mix with a fork 8)
Protein bomb!

I'm hopeful!

How big of a "tub" are we talking about here? Like a brand new 16oz/2cup tub of cottage cheese?

Well, I'm going for it as we speak...I dumped a can of tuna into a full 2cup tub of cottage cheese. I don't think I can choke this down as a "snack"...this is going to have to be my dinner replacement =)

It's pretty good actually. The soft texture of the cheese mellows out the dry, hard texture of the tuna. The the taste of tuna complements the faint saltiness of the cheese as well. I like it! Great idea!

Sweet!

For my test-snack I just used half a can of tuna and roughly half of my cottage cheese tub. In total it worked out to about 3/4 of a coffee sized cup of cottage cheese + tuna.

I agree. The texture is really good and the tastes go really well together. Just stirred it a bit with a fork before eating.

Awesome 8) Wonder why I never thought of this before. I will probably keep this as a snack or perhaps breakfast since it's so convenient. I've been slacking with the tuna because I really disliked eating it by itself or on plain brown bread. This way it's quite nice to eat. Cool that you liked it too, means that it's not just me being an all-eating fatty as usual

Well, since two of you like this, I will try it as a post-workout snack tomorrow after my shake. I'll go with a can of tuna into a cup of cottage and see how I like it.

Sounds like an express version of my usual lunch. I add diced truss tomatoes and cucumber and toss tuna and cottage cheese through it and simply use the olive oil from the tuna as a dressing. It's actually freakin' delicious if you ask me.

I've been eating the following almost every day for lunch and I haven't gotten remotely sick of it yet:

Diced continental cucumber, sliced truss tomato, diced spanish/red onion, sliced cup mushrooms, (sirena italian olive oil) tuna, cottage cheese and a dash of cracked pepper.

Mix it all together for even distribution...

Eat it!
