I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

wow, nice OHP. I used to be great in this exercise. This one seems to suffer the most when I stop training for it. Time to get back to it.

Hi Dada, you posted a spreadsheet a while back on this forum, i cannot seem to find that post again, it was something along the lines of texas method, but it explained more indepth than the spreadsheet which is in on the stronglifts blog. Is it possible you could give me a link to the spreadsheet again?
Sorry if i could not provide more information, you can PM me if you like, might jog my memory.

Thanks in advance

3 August - Monday

Killer 45 minute bodyweight circuit this morning at PT. Good way to start off a weight loss cycle I guess. I've started cleaning up my diet a bit and am adding more fruit and less starchy carbs.

Circuits really help me with weight loss so I'm expecting you to see good results. Now, I don't recommend them early in the morning but I've always been more of a night owl anyway.

Amen to that, I really need to clean up my diet, my recent break from the gym was a real artery clogger.

Yeah me too. I don't really like training int he morning either but this was part of a military workout. But I'm considering also doing my weight workouts in the morning too, only because it will free up some of my time at night. I figure that way I'll get less interruptions to my workouts.

4 Aug - Tuesday

Decided to try to workout @ 6:00 this morning at home. Workout went OK for the most part but it may be the last time I do this b/c wife says I woke up her and our daughter. Although I think it was really the dog that woke them up when I kicked him out of the garage for annoying me (licking my ear when I was trying to bench). lol

Squat 125 x5, 155x5, 185x5, 215x5, 247x3 - legs were already particularly sore prior to workout. Partly because of the bodyweight circuit I did yesterday but also because I moved office furniture all day yesterday at work and also did yard work when I got home. It was like I worked out from the time I got up almost until I was ready to go to bed. I guess whatever doesn't kill you....

Bench 135x5, 145x5, 170x5, 197x5, 227x5 - the first 4 sets felt great, last set was tough but I got all the reps. My dog was distracting me the whole time which didn't help.

pendlay row 85x5, 100x5, 120x5, 140x5, 160x5 - decided to drop the powercleans for a while and do pendlay rows. Felt pretty good.

weighted situps 10 x 20, 20, 20, 20

4 way neck isolations did two sets of these, trying to prepare myself to start doing some bridges soon

Man, I get in a LOT of trouble if I wake my son so I understand where you're coming from.

Solid workout. I found circuits hard to do with my weights but certainly not impossible. Moving furniture definitely sucks too!

Yeah, I did get in some trouble but I blamed the dog as I think he's really the guilty party. lol Either way, she banned the 6 AM workouts at home. I did so much furniture moving yesterday it was insane. Although while I was actually doing it, it didn't seem that bad. But after I was done I was beat!

stress!

Postby Dada » Thu Aug 06, 2009 8:34 pm

Well my moving date is fast approaching 19 / 20 August. No doubt this is going to mess up my training, although lifting boxes and furniture might be like doing several sets of deadlifts over and over again. Not looking forward to the actual move but it's job related and in this economy it's worth it. Can't complain too much when you're guarenteed a job for the next 3 years at least. I think I found a nice house to move into but haven't seen it in person yet (just pictures). Hoping to be able to check it out this weekend and sign the lease before someone else beats me to it. But the biggest problem is I need to get someone to rent out my house ASAP or I'll be stuck with a mortgage and a rent payment. Stressfull times to say the least!

Been there (mortgage and rent payment) and it is stressful. Good luck with all of that but things typically work out.

Where are you moving to? Are you still active duty?

Ft Stewart area, yes active duty. I'm mostly keeping a positive attitude about it but the next few weeks are going to be rough. My wife is less enthusiastic about the move right now but I think once we settle in she'll be OK. She doesn't want to leave our house because we own it and doesn't want a renter to wreck it. And also because she likes the location - close to shopping etc but in a quiet neighborhood.

Where we are moving to is much more 'country' and less 'city' than we're used to. Although, from the short visit I made down there the fort is nicer than here (FT Jackson). If we get the house I talked to the real estate guy about, the great thing about it is it's only a couple of miles from the fort so my commute will be 10 minutes rather than 30+ minutes. The house also has a fenced in yard which will be better for our dogs and kids than our house now with no fence. (We always talked about getting a fence but never got around to it.)
