I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

So much for training on long weekend. I was sick with flu symptoms, felt a little better today though.

Ran sets of sprints and pushup / situp variations wasn't too bad although I'm still not 100% recoverd from being sick

Hope you feel better soon Dada. My son just recovered from the flu. Being sick is no fun at all.

Thanks, I'm OK now. Still had some sinus issues this morning but seems to be gone.

11 Nov - Wednesday

Squat - warmup with bar 1x10 then 165x10

Stiff-legged Deadlift 135x15
probably should have pushed it and cranked out 20 reps but felt decent

bench 185x8,8
Felt pretty decent. Sort of messed around with my technique on 2nd set a little. Mental note: don't do that again. lol

Barbell Shrug 185x20
solid set

Barbell Curl 95x10,6
2nd set not as good, kept getting interrupted by my kids

lying tricep extension 70x8,8
This was fairly easy.

bent arm pullover 70x6
Just threw this one in there to try and work lats a little. Tried to do straight arm pullovers with same weight but didn't do so well.

13 Nov - Friday

4 mile run - felt pretty good while doing this but actually ran it about 2 minutes slower than last week. Ran in about 36 minutes this time and 34 last time. I was a little sore from lifting the other day which probably slowed me down.

15 NOV - Sunday

Squat - warmup with bar 1x10 then 175x8

Stiff-legged Deadlift 135x20

OHP 135 x 6, 6
I think I could have done sets of 8 at this weight. Next time I plan to do that.

Barbell Shrug 185x20
Felt a little harder this time even though I used same weight.

EZ Curl - 70 x 6, 6
switched bars and lowered the weight was probably a bit too easy

standing tricep extension 70x6
Did these standing rather than with a bench. Was a little harder than using a bench but not too bad.

Finished entire workout in about 20 minutes or so. Wasn't really working hard enough (weights still too light) but I'll keep bumping the weights up each time. Shoulders seem to be responding the best so far although my hamstings are definitely improving. Think the hamstrings are getting stronger from the sprinting I've been doing too.

16 Nov - Monday

Fartlek run about 2.5 miles. At first it wasn't too bad but by the last couple of sprints I was dreading it. Been tired ever since.

Sprinting is definitely good for the hams. I can really feel them there when I sprint. Great work!

How's the balance between PT and weights coming along?

It's getting better although I haven't been going too heavy yet. Although I think since I'm planning to keep the weights volume low that it shouldn't be a problem. I'm actually thinking that eventually I might end up doing low reps with heavier weights like 2 or 3 sets of 3 or something like that. But right now I'm keeping things basically as-is although I make little changes here and there just to keep it interesting. I think I'm going to add some hang cleans or clean and press soon for a little explosiveness.

4 mile run - although my knee was bothering me I actually ran pretty well. Finished in under 34 minutes which was my goal. Next goal is to get down to 32 minutes.

23 Nov - Monday

1.5 mile run

3 x 5 chinups supersetted with 3 x 5 dips

2x5 inverted row supersetted with 2x10 pushup

.5 mile run

Pretty easy workout, a bit of a mix between some running and upperbody stuff.

I know this is completely off topic but how are you & family settling in to the new place?

Very well, thanks for asking. Only problem now is we still have two house payments but have a few people intersted in renting our other house so hopefully we'll have a renter in there in a couple of weeks.

24 Nov - Tuesday

Deck of cards PT - red cards were upper body exercises and black were lower body. The numbers on the cards are the reps and face cards were worth 15, Aces were 20, and jokers wild. The exercise were pretty much random aside from the upper / lower body as described. All were non-weighted. The workout wasn't that hard but it was fun.
