I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Some people look deceptively strong until you know what to look for. I see the deceptively strong look occasionally. The easiest way I've found to determine strength just from looking at someone is to examine the back and the hips. Someone who lifts heavy weight will have a very large, thick back and a lot of mass in the glutes/hamstrings/adductors. If you look at strong pictures or pictures of old strongmen, powerlifters, etc., you can notice this pretty quickly. Just need to be careful to separate out those guys from the quad-only leg guys!

@Jinithith.. hahahah.. yep, i like the style too.

In the James Bond movies he looks strong, agile, and quick, and can take a beating and give even more. Of course, it's just a movie, but doesn't anyone want to be in that physical state?

His legs look...rubbish, like others have said, but his upper body looks good imo.

I agree with this quote. Especially having been around powerlifters myself and seeing a thick back. Maybe they look deceptively strong because they do not look ripped? Hmmmmm interesting topic. I still like the idea of being stronger than I look though. :)
Rere's training log II
The squat, press, deadlift, and bench press have been used for decades by the strongest athletes on the planet. There is good reason for that. Any program that doesn’t use them is inferior to one that does.
