I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Interesting comment on the DL's. I've been having a bit of a lower back issue as my DL's have increased. Going up feels ok, but not so good on the way down. I'm going to take a look into whether my issue might be incorrect hip movement.

Good to read what's going on on your side of the world. Always an interesting read, your log. Sounds like life is good and that you're looking foward to hitting the trails later this month. Will be looking forward to reading about the adventure.

Hey - good to see you're still at it. Some nice numbers there too - working on form with 147,5kgs for a deadlift shows how far you've come since starting this programme! I've got one more pop at 160kgs today before I too will have to do that.

I'm impressed by the squat too - I'm sure now you've broken the 100kgs voodoo you'll pile the weight on again.

Decline sit ups do feel harder (try the Roman Chair if you can find one) but I think a lot of the DOMS I got from those was actually the eccentric stretching of my muscles rather than the difficulty of doing the sit up.

Oh, and get back to the bench you pussy!!! ;)

Good luck with the trailwalk in case you don't get back online beforehand....

Hi Dave,
Best of luck with the trailwalk. Sounds like you've really put in the effort to prepare for it. The weights have still been impressive at the same time, which is a credit to you mate, well done.

Thanks guys. This little pic should give you some idea of what this 100km Trailwalker in Hong Kong is all about.
There's a bit of a hill, called Tai Mo Shan, that starts at about the 60km!

It's been a while and a lot has happened. Jen and I got married in Hong Kong on Thursday 19th November and then we started our 100km at 2pm on Friday. We managed to finish by 5:18pm on Sat, so it took us 27hours and 18mins in total. I'm glad I've done it, but it was probably the toughest thing I've done in my life so far (and I've competed in triathlons and marathons). I think I can safely say I won't be doing that again, but who knows. These things can be like tattoos, once the memory of the pain fades, you start thinking about the next one!
Here's a pic of our team with their certs. Oh, and what's that top you're wearing, Dave?

I'm having a rest week this week to let my body recover and then it'll be back in the gym. I haven't really done much for about three weeks, so I guess it will back to 80kg squats, 60kg bench, 40kg OHP and work up from there. Time to dust off the old spreadsheet!

Hey Dave, congratulations on both counts. Walking that much distance sure must take a lot out of you. Can't see the pics here at work - will see them at home in the evening.

Congratulations on both accounts indeed, Dave.
The pain will fade for sure and who knows what crazy thought will come to your mind then ;)
Still find it awesome you did this together with your (now) wife. I'd say she is more to be congratulated then you are

Yeah, and just WHAT is that thing you are wearing ? ;)

Re: DaveT's Training Log

Since making a renewed start at the beginning of December, I have made it to the gym a grand total of three times! Pathetic! Then I dropped in on Markg's log to see that he's just PRed on the OHP at the same weight as me. I wouldn't mind so much but he's lighter than me, and I can probably only OHP about 45kg at the moment as I'm so out of practice. Got to get my arse in gear again. Time is limited, so I can only train twice a week (Tue and Fri). I'm going to squat heavy again twice a week, and I have had a new idea for my beloved Bear. I'm thinking of pyramiding the weight on this. The original goal will be to aim towards 30kgx8, 35kgx8, 40kgx8, 35kgx8, 30kgx8. This will obviously require a slow build up over time in both reps first and then with the weight.
I'm pretty happy with where I am weight wise (around 94/5kg mark), so not looking to increase size that much, but I would like to reach 1.5xBW on the squat and I have set some goals for the OHP and BP. I'm really looking just to remain strong and healthy to help with my other sports activities.
