I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi there,
Just a quick message to say hi to everyone involved with this great site & to ask for some advice.
I've been into strength training on and off for a year or so now.
Mostly with kettlebells mixed with a wee bit of barbell work at home. I was following a similar 5x5 protocol with kettlebells and making reasonable progress.
At the beginning of July this year I broke my wrist (distal radius)
Its been 4 months now, and I feel I am ready to return to lifting weights. For the past couple of weeks I've been doing some bodyweight work with tiny amounts of soreness in my wrist. Can anyone advise me whether or not its too soon to start the beginner 5x5 or not?
Anyone here had a similar injury?
I'm super keen to 'get back on it' and make some good gains.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks
Holty :)

i broke my ulna, right near the wrist joint probably about 3 years ago now and it hurt for a long time. 4 months isnt really that long dont they usually say 12 weeks before its healed up? i would probably see a sports physio just to be on the safe side, you dont want to push through the pain and it actually end up making matters worse. it would be pretty hard for anyone to give you advice on something like that over the internet.

I broke my scaphoid about 6 months ago which i believe is notoriously bad for healing properly. After having a cast on for the better part of 5 weeks i waited until i had the strength back in my wrist and started the stronglift program. I havnt had any issues with it which i think is due to the fact that the program uses progressive loading.

Thanks for all of your replies.
I bit the bullet and decided to start yesterday.
'Touch wood', all went well. I started light as instructed and everything seems ok.(apart from it being pretty painful walking today)
Got some pineapple in for the 'DOMS'! Heard its very good for soreness.
Anyway. Thanks again folks. I will start a log very soon.
