I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Well.. it's time to begin! I'll use this log to track progress on the 5x5 stronglifts program. I'm really looking forward to building up strength as I feel far below what I should be doing.. but hey, that's why I'm here. I appreciate any feedback or pointers.

Current stats: 46 yrs, 170lbs, 5'8"; name is Dave

Day 1 (all in lbs):

- mobility warmup
Squats:
warmup: 2x5xbar, 5x75, 3x105
worksets: 5x5x125

Bench Press:
warmup: 10xbar, 5x85,3x125
worksets: 5x5x135

Barbell Rows:
warmup: 8xbar, 3x65, 2x85
worksets: 5x5x85

Dips:
4x8xbodyweight
- will do reverse crunches tomorrow with 20min cardio.

Trying to figure out some stretch goals.. so far thinking for 5x5:
Squats: 225 (this would be bar + 2 45lb plates each side)
Bench: 185
Deadlift: 275
BBR: 115
OHP: 115
Chinups: 3x6x25
Dips: 3x6x45

Hey Dave,

Welcome, you're coming along. I recently started a log and know these logs will help me build consistency. Plus, it nice to document progress and later review how far you've come. All the best on reaching your goals.

Just starting to watch Rippetoe's Starting Strength dvd and it's great - really breaks down the form and I learn so much more from seeing it vs just reading his book. I realized I was doing the squat wrong! and no wonder it feels uncomfortable. Going to watch this dvd over next couple days and ensure I only increase weight on the lifts if form is proper. I heard of this dvd on this forum I think so thanks to whoever posted referenced it!
