I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Out of curiosity, how bad are wide(er) grips for your shoulders. I normally do tighter grip dips, as that's what my power rack allows, but whenever i've had the chance to do wide grip dips (either from being at a gym or using random objects), i've been able to double the amount of reps each time.

Wide grip dips make my triceps a lot more sore the next day, and tbh, i think i'd get faster gains from them.

Anyone experienced injury from them?

Wide grip hurt my shoulders and I can't do them. But we are all different so you might be able to do them with no problems.

Loving weighted dips. I switched out from weighted pushups once I a reached 3x15 w/ a 45lb plate on my back. BW dips were still a bit difficult but I cranked out the 3x5 and have worked up to 15lbs.

Do you guys warm up for weighted dips? I'm not for now since I just switched over, but I wonder if it will be like the squat & deadlift, ie. once you get up to enough weight bench press won't warm you up enough for dips.

I don't warm up for them but only because they come at the end of a session and my shoulders are already warmed up enough. But I wouldn't do them as a first exercise without some warm up sets.

Dips are the easiest lift for me, can put on plenty of plates as well. Love them...

For pull-ups and dips, I usually run a short (3-4 reps) warm up set, then head right into adding the working weight.

I guess wide grip focus more on chest/shoulders than on tris...narrow grip seems to work more your tris rather than ur chest or shourlders...but also I guess it depends if you're leaning too much forward (more chest wrok) than if you'r enot leaning too much (hits more the tris)

I think you can still hurt yourself doing it like that. Doing a warmup then going straight into 30kg. I usually do bodyweight, then add 10kg until im up to working weight. I dont do many, like 1-3 each set.
Stats:
Bench: 97kg
Squat: 112kg
Deadlift: 117kg
OHP: 55kg
Dips: 40kg
Pull-ups: 22kg

The deadlift is not dead; size is dead without it.

Exactly, going straight to the work weight could cause an injury, is like squatting 100kg (work weight) without any previous warm-up sets... it could kill yourself

Generally I fully agree but it also depends on the person and the context.
I normally do warmup sets using 60kg on squat but in summer I already skipped it since it was too damn hot so I went straight with 100kg.
Also, when doing deadlifts first, a normal warm-up on squats is not really needed. You still need 'some' but not as when it would be the first exercise.

For an exercise like dips adding 10kg each time and to 1-3 sets at each weight sounds logical and wise.
