I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

dislocating shoulders

Hi - I've just started the 5*5. A few questions as really want to get going with this as it seems to be the clincher of getting stronger:

i've never done squats - I'm having real problems getting the bar low on my shoulders, tried the shoulder dislocations with the broom and can hardly get my arms back an inch or so, never mind back to my butt - does it take a long time to get this going?

should I continue to work on prevous bi and tri weights until I'm up to a heavy weight on the squats as at the moment it's doing nothing other than making my neck sore and legs a bit tired?

I'm a 'hard gainer' and it's taken me a year to get a noticeable change, so am hoping this programm will really help speed things up.

Cheers

Right now you probably need something a bit longer than a broom stick. Go to a hardware store and get a length of PVC Pipe and cut it down to six or eight feet. Work on the dislocations several times a day and you will in time be able to move your hands closer together.

Start your squats with just the bar and do not work so much on getting it (the bar) low. Now is the time to work on form. Within 4-6 weeks, you will see that your flexibility is much better.
