ok, i couldnt help but notice that this thread has received more hits than any other thread pretty much...so i thought why not add my two cents?
anyway, per the eastern healing and spiritual traditions, tibetan and hindu tantra and chinese daoism, semen is generally best kept in the body, to fuel the various spriritual practices, and for health and longevity. while there are ways to internally raise the energy up the spine, etc, thats advanced and most guys like me can't do that anyway (yet...), so then there are the stopgap measures, for guys like me who have sexual desire and can't really just ignore the whole thing either.
so, what to do? well, one option actually is to rub the semen back into the body, mostly around the lower abdomen, where the body can store energy (the hara or dan tien used in martial arts).
basically, per ayurveda, the semen comes from the bone marrow, which in turn comes from the muscle, which comes from the blood, which comes from the food we eat. (i skipped a few steps here to simplify the process). so frequent masturbation means the body has to now temporarily divert production of new muscle in order to bring up the semen back to where it was. so rubbing it back in helps out here.
another ayurvedic remedy: drink milk right afterwards! (no seriously, i am not making this up). it is considered that warm milk with ghee (clarified butter) and some raw honey and spices creates an energy drink that replenishes the energy lost (like why most people feel tired after ejaculation).
also, i personally believe that making love to a woman (where rubbing it back in is not an option) gives you energy. if we offer the semen to her as a gift of love, and she loves us back, i feel we recieve energy and its not as depleting as masturbation or casual sex, so this makes a difference too.
also, now i am 37, and i don't think i can recuperate as fast from heavy activity (sex or otherwise) as when i was 20.
rickson gracie, 2 weeks before a match, does not have sex. at age 20 it probably didnt matter, but as he got older it probably did, i'm guessing.
