I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Early Morning Pre-Workout Meal

I've just changed my schedule and on Wednesday it involves being in London (90 minutes away) by 9am so I've been getting up at 5.45 to get the gym set in before jumping on the train. The problem I'm having is I have absolutely no idea what to eat before going. I know I need something, and I'd normally get up at 8, eat cereal/porridge etc then go to the gym an hour after but I don't have that gap to let it settle. The obvious answer would be "get up earlier" but 6am is already about 2 hours earlier than I'd like to be up already :p

Any suggestions? Anyone else train early and worked out a good thing to eat. Post workout is milk + whey + a piece of fruit or two, but I can't work out anything beforehand.

The four jaffa cakes and a pint of milk didn't really work out that well this wednesday and that's about as far as I've got.

What works for me is having a good sized glass of milk 20-30 mins before working out, then a 2-3 egg scrambled egg wrap (very quick to prepare), before heading off to work.

Not sure if that would work for you though. One other alternative I have used a couple of times is preparing a tuna wrap the night before, then taking that with me to eat on the way to work. Not sure I can handle tuna for breakfast all that often though. The principle of pre-preparing portable food that you can east on the train probably holds though.
