I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Elbow Issue

I have recently developed a moderate to high level of discomfort in my elbow, it is on the inside of the elbow and a bit more on the forearm than above the joint. Sleeping with an ace bandage and some menthol rub seems to relieve the discomfort as does some really intense stretching of the Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders and Wrists before working out.
I am not sure of what the cause of the discomfort is - that may be the only way to really get rid of it. I beleived that I may have had issues with gripping the bar during benching but went over it really well - the grip is where it should be - close to my wrist and in line with my forearm. Bicep curls do seem to aggrivate it a bit.
Any ideas ??

Most likely your posture and how you use that elbow for everyday activities.

Elbow Issue

Postby jdurando » Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:16 pm

I wish it were as simple as that - but I thought about that too, there isnt anything that I do during the course of a normal day that would have done it - posture is good too.
Just trying to figure it out on my own as my Chiropractor has been out for 2 weeks now with a serious pnuemonia. Hopefully he wont be out too much longer

Elbow Issue

Postby Mehdi » Fri Jan 25, 2008 11:39 am

If it's the same arm you use to control the mouse of your computer, to write, etc still question posture.
Be careful with static stretching when "injured", dynamic movements are better.

Elbow Issue

Postby jdurando » Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:22 pm

Thanks -
I really stretched it out well last night, statically as I really couldn't figure a dynamic strecth that was effective for the area, and it feels much better this morning, so we'll see how it fairs today.
Hopefully the Chiropractor will be back in on Monday and will figure it out for sure.
