I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Doctor has prescribed rest and anti-inflammatory tablets for my hip. Its already been a week and I'm going slightly deranged.

Have avoided stretching for the past week to help calm the area down.

Plan do do some soft tissue work with a tennis ball tonight. Then ease back in to dynamic stretching and lay off static stretching as much as possible. Hopefully I can start back on Monday.

Its just so hard to not do anything. Anyone else had to cope with enforced rest?

Surely you can keep doing other stuff?

If you have enough mobility to do dynamic stretches im sure you can stand, do overhead & bench presses? You could also do dumbell rows and other DB stuff.

I hear you.
I have a quad injury from over 10 years ago that popped up again 4 weeks ago when doing squats.
It is really difficult to take a step back in order not to start going heavy too soon again.
Already happened twice over the past weeks that I sort of reinjured that spot, each time again at 107.5kg.
So now I am going to take it easy on the squats for at least 2 weeks (lower weight, higher reps). Oh well, more deadlifts then
I prefer to be called 'H' ;)

I had thought about doing other stuff, but as you use your hips as stabilisers for almost everything, don't want to push it. I figure full rest is needed, but I can't stand it!

Hang in there....I had enforced full body rest from Sep-Dec 2008 due to pulled muscle in leg and strained tendon in arm.
I rested until I had made sure I was 100% healed.
I came back pain free and am lifting more now just after only a few weeks back into it. Just be patient and keep the diet in control.

I probably won't be lifting for the next 2-3 months, it kinda sucks.

I'm taking at least 2 weeks off lifting, niggling shoulder and knee pain giving me the shits. Stretching and going light doesn't seem to help me, maybe my age, 37?

So....I'm trying to not even think about lifting for a couple of weeks, mental break as well, even decided to stop reading Stronglifts, but erm, here I am!

Going to start back on Monday, and not a moment too soon.

Will deload slightly, hopefully not lost too much strength.

Man, have had total withdrawal symptoms. I hate not lifting.

Resting totally sucks, but maybe it would help to consider it this way.

You are really getting motivated, because now that someone is telling you that you CAN'T lift, thats all you want to do. You can use that feeling after you're well again whenever you're feeling not as motivated. Should that occur,

Also, it's always better to be out for a few days/weeks/months than to go back to soon and REALLY mess yourself up to the point where you can't do any of the excercises anyway oweing to a SERIOUS major injury.

You'll get there.
