I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Engineers here?

Postby overdrive23 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 2:36 pm

Are there any other Engineers here?

I'm a mechanical. I work right now doing HVAC stuff (computer work mainly..boo!)

I really like building/designing mechanical devices though! A group at college I was in made a fuel pump priming system for a race car...that was a blast!

Who else do we have here? Or a I the only one.....

Nope, not the only one. Network engineer here. Or Evil Overlord as I'm known to the various users.

Master in Electronics/SW Engineering but shifted already quite some while ago to Project Management (mainly SAP and Business Process related projects).
Even got a PMI certificate to back it up ;)

I got hooked into computers by an uncle when I was twelve. Still pounding a keyboard after 28 years
Never was much into playing games (but I did do a LOT of sports when I was young), always wanted to learn how to teach those darn puters to do what I wanted them to do.
Going for an engineering degree was more or less the next step when I had to choose.

When I was a kid I would always take apart anything electronic to look at the insides. I was fascinated with circuits. It just went from there... In school I was good in math and physics, I took a the few electronics-related classes my high school offered. After my junior year I went to a summer program for high-schoolers interested in engineering. It seems like it all just fell in place for me.

I have a bachelors degree in Software Engineering. I did all my Engineering courses and now I don't really use it.

Maybe someday.

I'm kind of a fan of Engineers, if that counts :)
My Dad is an Engineer, currently an analyst with Pilkington Glass NA. He flies around the world telling contractors why their windows are falling out.
Got a good friend here in town who was on the team that got Canada's first big satellite into orbit.
Yeah, I'm a geek about other geeks :D

I got into engineering because I found out "Mechanic" wasn't the best route.

I've always been into cars and metal things. (including ROCK!)

I always took shit apart when I was young, took CAD in highschool....and put it 2gether at college...and BAM! Engineer.

but i don't use my engineering now....it sucks; i read my college books and feel stupid b/c i'm forgetting the stuff i "learned"
