I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Seriously though, I'm glad we can motivate each other. I know it's made all the difference for me having everyone here encouraging. Keep up the good work!

Deadlift 195 3x5... back to 200 tomorrow... double overhand grip... heavy ass weight.
Damn straight!

Press - First time at 100 5,5,3,4,4... just trying to sneak up on willie...
Oooh you iron ninja you!

pullups (non bicep dom w/band) 6,6,5,4. did an extra set to keep volume up. gonna do 4x10 next time.
That's the spirit!

Prones 30 left, 30 right, 45 both, 45 both, felt like i really didnt get flat on the single legs... im going to tape these next time or get a mirror or something.
I'm experimenting with these at the moment, they aren't as easy as one would think.

overall i felt it was a good workout, forearms are tight and are going to be sore tomorrow!
Yeah, but in a good way! 8)

After small uturn, here we are again...

Postby FatGuyNoMore » Wed Jul 15, 2009 3:38 pm

PG and Willie... I mistakenly did a 200lb dl for 3x5 a week ago by misinterpreting what mehdi was asking me... so after doing it then circling back around here we are back at 200...

Deadlift: 200lbs 3x5 - Not as heavy as i remember... reg grip first set (forgot to switch after warm up sets), switched grip for 2 and 3 set... i think i need to put something on the floor right in front of me to look at cause i still freaking raise my head... BUT i felt like i could have done 225 or more... no ceiling yet on the dl... but i sure as hell get hungry the next day...

Bench: - 125lbs 5x5 - felt light, well cause it is :)
Rows: 12, 12, 12
RCs: 18, 14, 16

Deadlift: 205lbs 3x5 new pr... well arent they all now till i hit the ceiling :) why does the weight seem lighter in the middle of the set than on the very first one... looking at the film im NOT bouncing the weight off the floor... weird...

Press: 100lbs (new pr!) 5x5 took 5 min in between each set per mehdi.

chin-ups (bicep dom, no band): 10x3 (new pr!)- took 1:55 min in between each set... had some extra time so i thought id hammer myself... last 2 sets were tough... i think im going to do this with the pullups next time... maybe 10x4 with the band? or maybe 10x2 without the band??? i think i might add some weight to a weight belt for this... dunno... open to suggestions.

Prone Bridges: 30, 30, 30 - used camera to find where i was completely flat and rigid... um yeah these were tough again..

Squats will be there when you're finished FGNM. You've come a long way in this journey. It is far from over. Take the time to recover and then come back stronger. :D

PG... Since my log is about the closest thing to a private conversation on stronglifts besides a private forum (willie youre included, well cause your willie)... I dont know how to feel right now... im upset but REALLY upset... on one hand i feel betrayed by my body but on the other hand i abused the hell out of my body for 20+ years... and i have to keep that in mind... 4 weeks dont mean a freaking thing in the long term...

more later as time permits...

You're being way too hard on yourself. Not being able to squat is not the end of the world. I worked out for 7 years before I started squatting.

We all have done things to abuse our bodies. I quit smoking 2 years ago and have had to fight a bingeing disorder. You're doing the right things now and that's what matters. Don't define yourself by past failures. Look forward to future success.

Hey FGNM. PG's right man, don't get to pissed off it. It's better to get yourself sorted out now and have the 4 weeks off than later. Also, you'll have all the fun of working back up from a lighter weight back to some new PR's! 4 weeks is not a bad price to pay for 20 years+ of abuse, the only difference is that the abuse you're giving it now with the weights is a good kind! :D

Stay Strong

I'm glad you saw it our way.

A family vacation sounds wonderful. I hope you have a great time and get plenty of rest and quality time with the family.

Hubby and I are planning a weekend getaway for the family in October. I'm just waiting to see if he can get the time off so I can book the hotel.
