I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

120 lb Box Squat 5x5 - still pretty "dom"ed up from tuesday... form was all over the place... 120 again next time - im starting feel like this is a lack of character on my part...
105 lb OHP 4,4,3,3 - nothing says your not recovering (sleeping and eating) enough like not making 5 on your first set of ohp's, did the 4th set just cause i was pissed off... more sleep and some maybe some more carbs on my workout days (kinda hard to do now since my workouts are so... spontaneous)
185 lb DL - 1x5 - yeah baby now were cooking with gas... hammies still hurt from the box squats on tuesday and now their really talking...

Hi all... thanks for the kind words and thoughts... im gonna change things up a bit to see if i can keep myself motivated in the gym... so I jumped the shark today... after attempting my workout at Midnight last night... being still sore as hell from wed's workout and generally being in a pissy mood... i started my own ss novice program... on saturday...

Workout A
3x5 Squat
3x5 Bench
1x5 Deadlift / 5x3 Power Cleans (Alternating) - saving up my pennies for some bumpers and shoes next... just deads till then or maybe just technique work with an 95lbs?

Workout B
3x5 Squat
3x5 Press
3x10 Weighted BackExtensions - (ill start with 20lbs)
Chins 3xF

So Workout A today
3x5 squat 135lbs - last set was tough... might do these again next time... till speed and form come up... or might deload to 115-120 thoughts anyone?
3x5 bp 135lbs - new pr... it was moving slow on last set, really slow... first attempt at a bb bp in a while, will do weight again.
1x5 dl 200lbs... slow glacially slow... gonna deload back to 190 and work on speed and form some more.

next monday...

3x5 sq 135-140 depending on how i feel
3x5 press 100 (till speed comes up)
3x10 BE w/20lbs

Sounds like a solid program.

The heavy stuff is slow, in relation to the lighter weight.

From what I have read, you should always explode on all movements, including warm ups. Your explosive movements will slow when the mass gets heavy; just logical I guess.

Congratulation on the good workout.

workout b
140lbs 3x5 Squat - went up faster than expected... thanks barry.
105lbs 3x5 Press - 5, 3, 3 - time to deload to 95lbs and retry.
3x10 Weighted BackExtensions - (ill start with 20lbs) - done.
Chins 3xF (5, 5, 5) with band

more later...

Saw the chiro today... wants me to switch to front squats for a couple of weeks and do 5x10 back extensions... and see how my back feels... (it still hurts most of the time)... his premise is my glutes and hamstrings are stronger than my quads/low back and is pulling my pelvis down (its like 12% tilted)

oh yeah and i still have this knee pain thing behind my right knee... as long as it doesnt get worse and i can train i really dont care at this moment... besides i just dont feel like another freaking surgery.

thought id deload to 100 and switch to front squats for a bit...

Switching to front squats, if you have not done them before, will give you the oppertunity to learn a new movement. That should be fun.

If it helps, you have found yourself a good doctor, lucky you.

Nice that your doc recommended front squats. Does he also recommend going below parallel?

You know there's going to be a powerlifting meet at the gym here in Kzoo on Oct 24th. Any chance you might make it?

Hi all...

@Barry... apparently i need to practice front squats a bit first... cause i suck at them (with an empty bar no less)... and yes just below parallel was the recommendation... gonna keep doing backs till then... but will do the 5x10 extensions and keep stretching till then... might ad some extra quad dominant work till then on my "a" workout.

@pg... you know with this much warning i probably can make it there... isnt there one in lansing in a month or so up at lansing community college? i have to talk to "she who must be obeyed" but it shouldn't be a problem at all... what time?

with all that in mind...
3x5 squat 145lbs - last set was tough but not overly
3x5 bp 135lbs - redo from last time... first two sets were fast... last two reps on last set tough but time to move on... 140 next time.
1x5 dl 200lbs... faster... didnt feel like they were impossible this time... next time 205...

weights up to 196 bf is the same... only eating 2200-2400 a day... according to berardi im chronically undereating to the point ive lowered my metabolism... after my touchup surgery in december.

later guys (an gal) :)

 Your wife gets more respect than I do. Hubby simply refers to me as his evil half. (and I whole heartedly agree)

Yes there is a meet Nov 7 at LCC. I was planning on going to that one but I think the one in Oct will suffice. Besides it's closer to home. :)

I'm guessing things will start relatively early. I'll get more info and let you know.
